BUT........they never did a "Recall" for this issue did they .
The failure rate was quite small considering the amount of sales of that model that they mearly offered some goodwill, at first it was on a 50/50 basis but then set the goal post of 7 years, full service book being stamped and low mileage . If they modified the OE set that would be an admission of faulty parts would,nt it thus every man and his dog would of wanted their pride n joy done FOC. I suspect they battend down the hatches and weathered the storm and paid out when the going got tuff . However ........perhaps the new parts are indeed 06/7 spec or worst still modified 04/5 sets...........all I,m saying is I,ve seen NEW sets causing the same fault but seldom do the 06/7 have this issue.........( awaits the barrage of replies )

yes I would presume so Martin, the guy in the US says he's had them in stock for 8 months from Honda so he "presumes" they are new type.. But bit of a risk.. have sent a begging email to Honda UK but due to the bank holiday guess I cant expect a reply until Tuesday at the earliest!!

Absolutely No One at Honda will admit there is/ was a problem /fault with these...........not good when your facing a tidy sum to put right their cock- up right

I know peeps in the " know " from Honda Europe......even they are a bit sheepish when the issue was brought up over a beer or two

    Bloody nightmare mate

TBH, when you have a corporation that does not give a toss about a braking system that has the potential to cause serious injury or worse, then they are not going to give a flying toss about a few burnt out gennys, unfortunately Mr Honda, when it comes to customer service makes the like of Ryanair look like the pioneers of good service.

Stator rewind without rotor replacement is false economy.

Hi, I'm having the same trouble with my 04 1000rr.
I have ordered a new reg/rec from Electrix World.
Am I right in assuming if I bought an 06/07 flywheel with a new 04 stator or rewired mined at West Country Windings all would be good? Is this the modification that fixes the issue of premature overheating and burnout?
If I'm missing something I'm all ears.
Is it best to just buy a new stator or get mine rewired?
    Cheers guys.

I think you need the matched pair for the 04, the part number for the 04 is stator and flywheel together the updated parts. Not sure if the 06/7 flywheel is the same part or not..

Cheers! Managed to pick up a cheap flywheel from the UK and an 06/07 stator from electrix world. Hope it all works when I put it in...
