The one that sticks in my mind was a CBX1000 with a 6 into 6 at Santa Pod about 30 years ago. Stated as a low growl and wound up to a high pitch scream at high revs..........awesome. Also, an SP2 that came by me in my car a few years ago. It was an absolute cathedral of sound.
I know what you mean about the SP2. I was looking around for one before I found the FireBlade. I wanted V twin grunt and Honda reliability but people kept putting me off over small fuel tanks plus high consumption and comfort. I was assured that as a sciatica sufferer it would cripple me. But every time i hear one pinned....
The big wins are very intoxicating. I had a Firestorm and an SV1000S. Both great bikes....and the sound.......
The guy I bought my Ducati from is a real bike collector and he reckons the only bike he ever regrets selling on was his Firestorm, and that onewas a nail.
