The shame is that they're too damn clever. They worked out long ago that we're too stupid to be able to outwit them so its a lot less effort to just pirate our complacency than hunt for their own food. When you strip what a nuisance they are out of the equation and just watch them they are incredible to look at and their flying skills never seem to be mentioned in descriptions of the great aviators of the bird world. If they weren't so good at making us look daft, I reckon they'd be revered. Interestingly, the term seagull is made up. They're just gulls. Nerd alert, Jimbo?
Ken if they are so dam clever why do they nest next to the railway tracks at the depot where I work? At the end of their breeding season the yard is littered with carcasses.
