M = Monoblock 4 = four piston, however now it's all confused as Brembo have added a range of OEM calipers that have different sized pistons. But yes the M4 34x34 is the same however it's marketed!

I would argue that the HPK (high performance kit) range is only the billet calipers and not the cast range. Saying that Brembo do say the M4 is in the HP lineup.

So 'Cast' is better than 'Billet' then?

No order is cast mono block, two part billet CNC, and single piece CNC billet monoblock, each one is more ridged than the other, if I recall correctly a two part CNC billet caliper is 40% more ridged than a cast monoblock and so on, can't remember how much more ridged the single CNC caliper is.

For those who don't know when I say ridged I mean less flex in the caliper body when clamped to the disc.

oh and note billet is a drop forged block of alloy.

Cast is in no way better than Billet no matter what hype anyone is spreading.

The stresses and imperfections in a cast piece would surprise you.

A billet piece of material is always going to be a better make up of a material.

Defo! And like I say I think you'll find the high end mono's are drop forged billets too!

Exactly that. Even a pressure cast still has its imperfections.

So what are the Calipers in my link, Cast or Billet?

Ad says 'Forged' and that's it?

    It's in the name.

Forged is a billet type material.

The M4 is forged (forging is the shaping of metal), it's forged from a cast alloy block, I.e the alloy was poured into a mould then cooled and machined. A billed would be made from rolled/pressed alloy, then stamped or drop forged into a block, this aligns the molecules in the metal making it MUCH stronger and free of air pockets and imperfections, note there are also many grades of aluminium.

    (my short poor explanation...lol)

The OEM Honda caliper is a cast caliper also, only two part.

lol, You love it mate! It's amazing the way these things move on, the incredible mills you guys use, the new range of calipers are only thanks to new multi axis mills that produce those incredibly complex calipers and forks etc. That plus the highly complex math behind fluid dynamics that makes a caliper what it is.

When you get time and IF someone could pop into Brembo and just pinch the program for those nice RR's knock me a couple out in Ti would ya Colin :D

    Love this

Wow that helmet is epic!! Would love to be able to program something with solidworks or another of those CNc programs and get my own parts produced! Maybe will give it a try one day..
