Cheers jm1, i just took a look after getting back and your thread was there, so what's gone wrong from two weeks ago then? All was well when I went away (as far as I knew) then two weeks later he's banned. Has cabbie posted something else I haven't seen? Confused.
If you are missing Cabbies updates on his various projects, they are still on the American Custom Fighters site, Custom Fighters - Streetfighter & Custom Motorcycle Forum & Blog | Custom Fighters
A public forum is just that - a place where the people can voice their views out into the open. If they are being a dick or saying unpopular things, then it is down to the reader to believe him/her or not and form their own opinions of wrong or right. If the "outlawed" poster is outnumbered by popular opinion, i'm sure they will think twice about posting such things in the future. Im sure the powers that be had their reasons (i am not aware of what obscenities were posted in the thread) - however for the future, maybe 'banning' is a bit extreme?... By the way... you're all tw@ts and I hate you!
If you had read some of the comments made against other site members I think you would agree with the mods' decision to ban him, albeit reluctantly. JD
I have tried to stay out of this... but as it is a forum here goes....i think the forum is wrong for banning him straight away i think you should have maybe taken him to the side and said that he does have to watch his language as there are other members on the forum and just maybe this might have helped .... at the end of the day Cabbie is entitled to his opinion whether we like it or not but as i said he tone or language sometimes had to come down a few notches... now he took time out of day to show us all the kind of work and the person he is and he also did some great photos now that proves in some way that there is a not a bad person in there but just sometimes just needs a word to calm him down .... what has happened now is that if someone now disagrees with someone else and what they are saying then you as generals of the forum will have to come up with the same punishment that has befallen Cabbie or you will be deemed unfair. I also sent Cabbie a message telling him that i met Milky and thought of him as a a good friend yes even though Cabbie did not like policemen and yes i still did like Cabbie as i did not take it too personal... i have had people call me worse and i just shrug it off .... i do prefer i forum of no rules and no punishments unless the person has gone round to someones door to see them.... i just think sometimes the goal is to try and change someones opinion of something rather take the easier route of banning.... If other people had there way we as bikers would all be banned from the roads its a good job we are not banned or we would not stand a chance to change those minds
He had a warning a few weeks back which ended up with the what ate your experiences of the police thread being shut!!! How many times and how is any discrimination ok???? It's not in my book!!! He wouldn't speak do openly about being say racist or homophobic but as it's cool etc to hate the police he makes disgusting remarks, someone's view is one thing but no one should have to tolerate abuse from anyone else under any circumstances is bullying and not on. I still fail to see how some find it acceptable at any level It's just not, the abuse I couldn't care less about but his attitude was just wrong wrong wrong!!!
As i said in my previous post alot of people have said things about us bikers and if we were banned we would not have a chance to change those minds that abuse us... i am not saying what he said was right but we will never have a chance now to try and change that..... people are not born abusive or intolerant it is society that turns them that way Even Darth Vader managed to get it right .... even if it did take a while
I can remember making a post saying I thought mods were not needed when the question was asked should we have moderators. And as dj says don't think cabbie should of been banned warned yes not kicked off. Kind of makes me think how my comments I say in the future may be taken now. Surely we all have free speech? If it gets outa hand then yea warn that person first surely?
So how can you say yo think Cabbie should not have been banned ? I had loads of PM's from members informing me how offended they were buy his posts . he WAS warned , Asked to calm down a few times and still replied buy swearing in capitol letters and making personal attacks that where not needed in any way . Its done now , should we not leave it alone and get on with the forum ?
Rants/Debate Chaps/Chapesses, After engaging in recent forum debates on what is deemed appropriate behavior and what is not, i fear it has raised a bit of ill feeling in the ranks. I was impressed and actually enjoying the fallout discussion about why a member was banned, where all posters responded eloquently and expressed their views on the matter politely and in a civil manor. I see now that thread has also been closed. IMO, this is a terrible sign. I openly welcome debate and challenging perceptions no matter how extreme they may be. This has NOTHING to do with an individual who is no longer here, this about the NEED for people to feel free to discuss anything they want openly without fear of it being screened and deleted. Of course there is a line which should not be crossed and that has been dealt with in recent days, but to close a perfectly civil and interesting discussion is not right. A forum is a platform to speak. I think many members will find this a little oppressive and simply move on somewhere else. Personally, it has made me feel differently about this place. Like nothing interesting will ever come of the threads - which mainly consist of silly bollox to wind down the hours at work. So please, please can we encourage debate - it is a forum after all. big love Zee
Debate is good, but on adult level and not turning to name calling, racist remarks and such like. I have no issues of fun banter and people disagreeing with comments. We are all different but to keep the peace and not to alienate people. One reason I put "viewers discretion advised " on the joke/funny thread was to warn people who may read some of the jokes they can be "not what others would want to read". So enter at your own risk. But we do need some form of rules on any forum to keep the place free problems that may arise. Ken is a Ginger for example. Funny general banter which means no harm. but some people will overstep the mark. I for one hope that if people can read and understand the simples rules, then the forum will be a better place for all. Many of you have got to know others on here well and I hope everyone understands the reasons for what has happened and I for one hope No on needs to be banned other than spammers. ROCK ON 1000rr.co.uk
