No citizenship and no Oz passport. I don't believe in it. Can an Asian elephant suddenly become an African elephant merely under a paper transaction? We are what we are.

However, I do know of those who have adopted Oz citizenship. To do so, one has to severe their allegiance to Britain (understandably) but then, in a curious twist, on taking Australian citizenship there are swearing allegiance to the very Queen they had moments before severed ties with!! One cannot beat Oz logic!

Not any longer Paul. Many are claiming links to the aboriginal clans to latch on to the welfare bandwagon. I once lived on the outskirts of Melbourne, just beyond the suburban fringe, when I was a first-home buyer. I know for a fact that the aboriginal community received a lower rate of interest than did other applicants; they had a community van to ferry them around free, while other had to pay for taxis. buses etc, and a greater proportion of them were involved in domestic disputes and drunkenness than the white community.

Now, a pure white person can claim that their great, great, grandfather was a leader of say, the Wiradjuri tribe, and they immediately (with proof) become eligible for all manner of benefits. In the prison system, aboriginals receive far greater concessions than the general prison population in the form of paints, wood for craftwork, kangaroo and emu steaks on Australia Day (Jan 26) when other prisoners might get the equivalent of Tesco sausages, and they share a brotherhood much like our African/Jamaican clans of London.

Had I have been transported on the Third Fleet in 1791, perhaps for stealing a loaf of bread, or maybe slapping one of my number of wives for 'not performing':) (in the cook room of course) I would have felt part of a general community - albeit a criminal one. Much of today's society is so diverse with its culture mix that there is no longer a 'general community'. Many of us will remember our parents sharing a cup of tea or smoke over the fence or hedge with their neighbours. Today, all fences are five or six feet high - rarely does such neighbourly interchange occur.:(

Think I got carried away here, so yes, I am better off out of it!!

Wow you learn something new........the irony of this is that the 'Abo's' were once persecuted, now those people who persecuted them are now claiming family ties with them?? o_O

Classic example of a thread going off on a tangent here again haha :D

No I always take it for a quick spin round the block to blast any water out. Though I never soak the bike anyway ;)

Shall we have a look at a June ride-out if we get a nice weather window?
