    Hi Ron...

I'll happily give you a summing up of the possible issues with the system.
There are quite a few lengthy threads on here highlighting the issues if you want to put it into the search engine it'll find them for you.
Ok so...the good bits about Hondas system are..
When the combined ABS does it job properly it's very good. Right down to saving you from those sticky moments to being able to grab a handful of front in any situation like corners and it combining it with the rear automatically to smooth it through.
Also, there are abs owners who've never had an issue with it, so that's something to bear in mind.
I'm afraid that's it on the positives.

    The issues are...
    It's a big complicated system weighing 9k!
You can't do a simple bleed as per normal bikes, for when it's fluid change time OR air in the system.
It takes Honda 3 hrs at least to do it and that's with special tools they created to get it down from the 5hrs it originally took.
So that's at least £300 for a not so simple bleed.
Honda will tell you that providing you maintain your bike with correct bleed intervals and procedures then there isn't a problem. This is bollock's. The final time mine was bled by them it lasted a few k before it went again! That was the point I thought f#ck it and got shot of it!
I was fastidious with mine but over the 40k I did on it, it repeatedly had the brake fail issues...despite Honda bleeds etc.

What happens when it fails is your lever suddenly comes back to the bar when you go to brake. If you let go and pull again it will bite but it feels strange and usually the abs light starts flashing. The brake will remain vague unless you stop, turn engine off, pump lever and then start. But sometimes it'll go again within a short distance. Mostly happens at low speed, hot bike....but I had it twice braking hard from high speed and nearly shit myself the first time.
There are several ideas as to why this happens...
    Air in the system
Heat from bike affecting abs senses
and there are a couple of other bits in the system that can do it if they're faulty.
Either way...if your bike starts doing it....it's going to carry on once it starts. So it's then expensive bleed time for it or looking at the other bits for faults. Plus you have no confidence in the bike once it's happened.
Sorry to be such an 'Eeyore' lol but if I were you I'd just enjoy your bike and look on the positive side that it's one that's going to be ok. If you do have problems with it, then there's plenty of ideas on here including how to remove it....

Honda only fixed the problem by removing their own ABS solution.

It was 2011...some said the next model was better but I've seen those with same issue crop up too.
