the hotel at jerez last yr was right next to the track, which made life very easy in the morning (some tracks it can 45mins+ to get there),but this yr they have changed hotels as there isn't enough room to get everyone in the same place this one is more central in town though so is good for eating out at night, and only 10 mins anyway to track. flying there was a pain for me last yr,not knowing which airprort i could fly to i went for the nearest (not including jerez itself) which i think was alicante, problem with that was there are no flights from manchester, liverpool or blackpool so ended up going to gatwick.it was only afterwards my m8 told me to fly to gibralter from leeds/bradford. will let you know what flights we are booking when they tell me lol,and as for the car,if your on youre own i might have a space but again wont know for a while, saying that a quick post on few of the forums will find peeps in the same boat as you and can share a car with them, savesmoney on fuel+hire. any other questions fire away.
I think a boat would be better looking at that vid! I won the ohlins shock! Cant wait to fit it in. Do you think I should give the forks a refresh aswell? They already have k-tech springs in. Scooby, do you put your helmet in with the bike or take it on the plane as hand luggage?
i usually take my lid as hand luggage but thats only because it wont fit in my kit bag (i have my leathers etc in there along with warmers, tools,ex lead etc). your lid would be fine in your kit bag as once the bike+gear is on,it doesn't move or get squashed, plus it's you that unloads it at track so your bags not going to get thrown around. as for th early bookers price, not sure tbh.
Ive managed to book both dates of work. So which one is everyone going on Cartagena or Jerez? Im tempted by the Jerez, but then Cartagena is cheaper. Decisions, decisions.
I am easy either one I think there is only me and you who seem up for it ,I know Scooby of here is booked to go Jerez so I might give it another few days to see if anyone else fancies it ,winter lasts a long time in the uk so I will really look forward to this . Anyone else up for it ?
Yeah ok, I dont know why I havnt done it sooner! Good value aswell when you consider the price of a UK trackday.
Look on total cost as £1,000 - £1,200 for the 3 days That is everything mind, not just track day, flight but cost to drop bike off, hire car, tyres, fuel , food, beer, collect bike etc. They are awesome and addictive trips by all accounts!
I would take my bike to Halifax for £100 to transport It from there as it only about 1 hour for me but as you said its a great price for 3 days on track and to get your bike out there and accomadation . Not looked at flights yet but shouldn't be too bad at that time of year . Are you ready to book ?
Yeah I should be ready to book on monday. Just been looking on the no limits website for Jerez and it say the hotel is a 5* I might ring them and double check! European Trackdays : Jerez 18 - 20 November £599 Early Bookers - Special Offer
Well It only takes a few pints to get me drunk so that will drop the price down. Also Im not that fast, so Ill save some money on fuel lol
i was asking claire (she's basiclly who runs/organises most of the euro t/days) why they changed the hotel for jerez as last yrs was very good, and very close to the track, but this one is more central to town and (i think) has a spa,but is supposed to be a very very good hotel. just a note about cartagena,i've not done it personnaly but some of the lads i go with have, and dont rate it in comparison to the likes of jerez, portimao etc,it's more suited to 600's and resembles a go cart track (think mallory).so cant see me doing it in the near future tbh. get jerez booked,it's 1 of the best tracks out there.
Would you be taking your bike to Halifax rather than Bristol as its 20 miles less from Leicester to Halifax?
Yeah Ill be taking it to Halifax.Yorkshire right? Near you? Do you want to share a crate for the bikes? Ive tried to get a few mates to come along. But they dont want to take there road bikes. There loss Im just waiting for some money to come my way from a couple of side jobs. Then Ill book on. Ill let you know as soon as I get it. What group are you going in? I was going to go in the novice group, see how I get on.
Yeah no problem sharing a crate at least that way we can make sure the bikes are ok I will be going in Inters ,let us know when you want to book.
Im ready to book now Ive been looking at flights and its cheaper to fly to Gibraltar and get a hire car. Im guessing you have to fly out on the 17th then fly home on the 21st nov? How old do you have to be to hire a car abroad?
