I’ll be upfront and honest with price, I’m going to try and make them for in the region of £60 max for a plain one, anodised ones will cost more, if 10 people wanted them anodised it would increase by £8 each (minimum order charge of £60 and £20 delivery) If I stick any on eBay they would be £80 each. Any thoughts on this?
Yeah, £10 of aluminium, modelled on my cad cam seat which was £10k plus vat plus £2k a year for maintenance, the £60k milling machine, £1000’s of tooling, workholding, equipment, my time and my 15 years of learning I’ve done in the industry, my unit rent, my electric and water.... I’m obviously ripping everyone off aren’t i.
And not forgetting the hours of work it takes to design, program, fixture, machine, and check the parts, the time and packaging to post then to anodisers, and the end buyer.
Aluminium is £10, but what about his time effort and machine costs! Most cnc machines cost roughly £80 an hour cost price and that’s without programming time etc! The original rizoma ones cost about £125 so cheap in comparison
I'm more than happy to pay £60 for a plain or £68 for anodized one Providing enough want anodized black ones. Tell me where to send the money once you're happy with the design!
so you've bought all that to make chain guards, no u already had it, i don't care how much shit cost and your hourly rate, u got the idea off the site, a member lent u one, members on here help u out with bike info, if it was me they'd be nearer to cost for a short while at least, to say thx, take offence all u want, I don't make money on people who help me out, sorry for having a mind of my own, I think there expensive
Yeah, I started my own business a few months ago. I’m machining these when I could be machining parts for £45 an hour plus. Not that it’s any of yours or anyone else’s business but the two members who have sent me parts to measure off are getting a FREE chain guard in return. Both of which are happy with that arrangement. The £60/£68 IS COST price. I won’t be making any money on these, BUT I have to cover my costs. I’m not a charity. Nor would I expect anybody else to be. I’m assuming you work for free and are happy to not even cover any expenses with the chain guards you’ll be machining using your own equipment, which is fine, that’s your prerogative. I, as I’m sure many others will be, will look forward to our free chain guards from you. You have your right to your opinion; but if you don’t like the price don’t buy one and move on. Simple as that.
That's the best thing about opinions, we all have differing ones. I dont think it's too badly priced at all compared to the one linked above by @sps170373 I'll still be buying one.
