maybe you should try to find the facts first then if your not sure..... you'll find it's the ohlins steering damper, the ones that fit this bike.nothing to do with BMW. at least thats what it was yesterday, and the day before that, and the day befoire that.........maybe it's changed now who knows....
fcuk knows scooby, I must have flicked through Fb,Ride,Bike, & Performance bikes at the weekend due to the shite weather!
It's a recall on a certain batch of Ohlins steering dampers. The damper mechanism it's self is fine it's a mounting point on the main body that has found to have had stress fractures on some bikes so all are being replaced within a certain serial number span. As stated, nowt to do with BMW directly but shyte sticks. Same type of damper is on the ZX10R but that's been OK I believe
Cant be bmw as they are the " ultimate driving machines " Still if they were that good surely we'd all be having em ???
just to clarify though, ohlins dont supply BMW's with dampers,it's only if you have replaced the o/e damper with an ohlins unit. unless, ohlins do supply o/e bikes, but dont have them branded, but i cant see that tbh. theres a difference between the the 10/11 bikes, and the newer gen 12- bikes standard steering dampers aswell.
not all,but a lot although a lot does come down to everything else, your own choice,as some have said, they prefer no rider aids,or are loyal to a certain brand,or cant afford the newest+latest evolutuon oif bike. but honda has had the monoply at the top of litre bike sales for a good while now, however i expect that to change,if not this yr the next.
Whoever did buy this has still got to sell their Fireblade - it was a no PX sale The dealer has no space, they only sell Harley's so they just shift on the sports bikes for pretty much trade money to flip them on. Was a bloody nice looking bike - absolutely mint condition. Amazed that the dealer not open on Sundays - surely H.D. owners have them as toys / lifestyle bikes so Sunday would be a massive opportunity for sales etc. - maybe just me but if I ran that dealership I'd close 1 or 2 days mid week just to be able to open Sat and Sunday.
One thing I have worked out through this thread is that there must be a shit load of profit on the sale of a Harley if the shop can dismiss the extra cream they could have had by marketing the BM properly .
Either that or folk that buy a bm and then think a Harley is the next obvious choice have more money than sense and took a wacking great hit on the trade in price but still didn't care
