This! Paying the fine is an admission in law. If the Idiot does anything illegal on the bike then it will come back to you. Get it logged by the police. The DVLA are all on holiday anyway so they won't be in touch till 2030. Maybe contact someone like White Dalton. They've been great help in cases like this before.

That's really shitty luck you've had there mate, I agree with what most have said though..............DO NOT PAY THAT FINE!!!

I used to blur/cover my number plate in pictures I'd post online but I don't bother anymore. Hundreds of people see my number plate on my car everyday, its a dam sight easier to see than the infrequent picture posted online of my bike that you'd have to search very hard to find, pointless exercise really!! o_O

No way would I be paying it if your bike is SORN and not even on the road then the police should be able to file a report and if that's not good enough for the council in question then let them take you to court, that's what I had to do in my case, they eventually dropped it after about a year. There's no judge in the land that would go against the police's evidence.

You really would look guilty as hell if you paid that. Doesn't matter what it goes up to, its not your fine. Don't panic and don't pay. Emails are a good way of fixing these types of things instead of phone calls. Takes less time, you can CC multiple parties and you can attach evidence.

You'll get that sorted, don't worry. Just send off as much evidence as you can that the bike in the pictures isn't yours to the issuer.

Just a thought but can you tell from any of those pictures that the bike isn't the same model as yours? If you can then a pic of your reg docs with the model and the registered number should surely convince whichever dead brain is still sending you those fines.

I suspect the dead brain is an automated system that will keep spitting them out

first make sure the fines are not a scam, then challenge the fines. Once an appeal/ challenge is made, the the paument time limit is frozen.
Call the company an explain the magnitude of the problem or better still write to them and include the facts surrounding the situation & why this is a case of mistaken identity in a clear, brief & consice manner.
Notify the police about the cloning as the bike could be used for commiting criminal offences.

You most probably do not have to pay congestion nor emmission tax to go into london.
The number plate fixings on the clone bike are in the middle of the plate wherase on yours, you have 2 black at the bottom and 2 yellow at the top

Thanks for reply , ya there is a congestion charge because I’ve been to London on the bike ( ace cafe and bike shed ) in London way back last year ? I had to pay emissions as well , I’ve downloaded lots of pics and all my cancelled insurance and sorn stuff and. All of my new bikes stuff as well ( insurance , log book , ). So why would I be riding a bike with no insurance and stuff at 4 am. When I live in Btn. Witch is a good 75 miles away anyway let’s hope that’s enough?.

I'm surprised ANPR hasn't pinged you for tax or insurance at the same time!

Thinking about that last comment, I have to wonder how effective ANPR is at times. When we serviced my wife's car last year the local garage asked me if I knew it needed an MOT as it was overdue. Then he said ..... "By 9 months!".

It was used most days during that time but obviously we never went through a camera check or it was simply missed. It passed though :).

Honestly can't believe these systems aren't linked. I've driven myself to a state of paranoia with big brother.
I need to stay away from the flat earthers.

Well a quick update with my black 929 , after being on the phone to police and dvla. , I’ve now sent the log book off to a mr elvis Presley. To address that’s empty and I can receive the mail. ? So now a mr Presley is receiving fines? Well at least it’s out of my name, just so lucky it’s being used as a track bike , and I’m still waiting on a reply about the two fines that were in my name ? So now. Elvis Presley ridding a 929 around London .
