Glad you all had a good day, me, garyb and Firebloke did loads today, and my bike ended above the clouds Awesome hairpins Must do brands some time to tick it off...
Gutted I missed coming along but sadly work commitments at the moment mean no time for TD's Looks like you guys had a cracking day despite the rain and very brave getting the wets on and your knee down Jimbo (braver than me!)
Mate, was bricking it but couldn't believe how good they are! Absolutely night and day between them and road tyres in the wet... Was so shocked how comfortable I was within a few laps! Thought they would just get me round a bit easier but loved riding on them to the point I didn't care if it dried up or not. Will never have to worry about what the weather is doing before a trackday so a great investment IMO.
I've heard people say that about wets but I guess you really have to experience it to believe it. Did you keep an eye out for a second hand set of original wheels or pick up some aftermarket ones? And what seemed worse the braking into corners or the accelerating out on wets?
You dont mate, Andy and jay told me a 1000 times they are amazing but you just don't know till you've tried it... Was blown away tbh. Breaking is fine, felt like I was breaking as hard as normal, lean angle is fine once you get your head round it and don't try and take the p1ss (I found that out) but on the power is a little different out of corners, no real slips but the soft nature of the tyre means they move a bit which takes some getting used to. Looked around eBay for ages not much came up, then saw andy's pals for sale at oulton he didn't accept my 1st offer but then put them up on here for £400 with discs so had to have them
Do you run the wets at the same pressures or higher than dry tyres? I still can't imagine my baby getting all wet!!
Top day finished off with a Curry. My dish was lush, not sure about Jay's Hope your on the mend soon Tris
Was that your dry tyres in the previous pics mate? Looked from the bobbles on the outside of the tyres that maybe they could have dropped a couple more psi? The middle section had a nice healthy orange peel
To me that looks like normal tyre wear tbh no cold or hot tearing of the tyre. If anything it just looks like you were fukin goin for it jimbo, good man.
Ha ha cheers mate.... Need to get some warmers, was getting bad cold tearing on Indy last time out, but gp long laps means you warm them up properly on the sighting laps. Trailer, wow's and new Dunlop wets this month means the warmers have got to wait till pay day
I would say that is too high a pressure and similar to how my dunlops were wearing at 27 until I dropped to 25 cold. I don't think you should get any bobbles if the tyre pressure is right, unless someone can correct me?
My tyres looked like yours after first session out at Snetty Jimbo then I checked with tyre guy and dropped 2 more PSI and the rear end stopped squirming when coming out of the corners and felt a million times better and gave me so much more confidence
Tbh it felt great so didn't change... Be interested to hear from the more regular track guys if the wear is normal or not?
Yeah that would be good to hear everyones opinion. I just put my tyres in the track day tyre guys hands to get right so each session I came in straight to him to check wear and pressure. He was the one that said the rubber shouldn't bead if pressures are spot on but like you say Jimbo if it feels right then it feels right. I just want to get the best out of the tyres and not destroy them like my friend did his brand new BSB's after one TD And that was were I bumped into Moily for the first time
