Seems that all parts are there, part assembled too while still in their sealed bags. So perhaps this is a new way of distribution to some of you guys earlier purchases. Will give it a try fitting on Saturday and keep you posted.
I just got mine yesterday ;-) Not sure if all the parts are there.... strangely hard to tell..... ! still looks like enough bits to give it a go Don't think I'll get round to fitting for a couple of weeks, can't find the time, so I've also ordered a Gilles Gear shift support to fit with the rearsets when I get round to it.... £150 for all the Diamond bits looks like a good deal with you consider it's £59.00 for the shift support Also looking for decent quality H7 extension leads and I've removed my headlight mod module until I can find..... great mod but I do need better connections....
I am kind of doing it a bit at a time due to trying to look after the kids. Can't get a sustained period of peace. Got the left hand footrest on, as that was just two bolts. Looks good so far.
I just nipped to the garage and fitted the Gilles gear shaft support that arrived yesterday..... the rearsets will have to wait.... Not taking it our to try just now as 1) it's wet - that's not usually a problem but 2) I'm on my 2nd beer of the day...
Ok one side done, but can't properly test it. I can see the issue with the shaft support requirement that you have, and will see how it fares and maybe get one myself. Also hard to check the set up is right for me just yet, but easily altered if it isn't. My head is pounding from the kids though, so I might leave the other side until later on and see if the painkillers work. So far tho....... Not great light in my garage when the door is closed, sorry.
Ok for those who have fitted these before. Where do the two springs for the rear brake attach to on the new rearset ? There is no obvious place for these to go.
There isn't a place for the springs you'll have to get push sensor to replace the banjo on your break line only about £10 but I didn't bother until it was mot time. Diamond rearsets sell them and really easy to fit
I have one of them, but having seen the set up I have to say that I am not happy with the whole set up of it. So I have taken everything back off and put the standard stuff all back on.
What was wrong with the back brake connections? Ive just fitted a set to my 2012 blade no problems at all I think they work great.
Maybe just me, but I wouldn't have very much confidence in it.ch to their own. So this set is up for sale again including the push sensor for the back brake. Now out of the sealed bags (obviously) however they are all built up and all fixings are there. Only left hand side was fitted, as I didn't fully dismantle the standard right hand side after seeing the set up.
Went for a run this afternoon and when I returned I thought I'd have a look at how to fit these (with a view to actually doing it another time) I was looking at the gear side 1st and decided it was easy enough so I'd just do that while I had ½hr spare. Did hit a snag and had to re-fit the standard gear linkage while I consider a solution. The issue is not with the Diamond rearsets particularly but more with the combination of these and the Taylormade exhaust I'm using just now. Have started another thread for this issue in particular. http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/19805.htm#post299764
Yes after a colossal amount of messing about ( thanks to Toth and Jnr Hopper for their assistance ) I eventually took the plunge with Diamond. I wanted Gilles but these were a third of the cost ( on offer). My feedback for what it's worth is: I could nt fit them, but this should not be seen as a major criticism as if my riding was anything like my spanner work, I'd be on stabilisers in a car park. The guy I got to fit them was a bit perplexed by the instructions but the total swap took 90 mins including the time to cut and solder the brake light switch as the Diamond switch utilised a different connector. I'm pretty sure mine was the standard Honda but as 3rd owner can't swear to that, but I knew the previous owner ( since emigrated and I was nt going to phone him in Sydney to ask - I doubt he would have appreciated the wake- up call ). If anyone is buying them be aware they are racing rearsets like it says on the heel- guard. After a bit of fine tuning on the adjustability and a morning testing round leafy suburban roads the only thing I'd gripe about is the back brake which, whatever I try doesn't appear to have the bite that I could generate through the original pegs. I don't know how much of an issue this is for others but even if I never use it I like to think I can lock the back up if I wanted to. Maybe it's the racing thing again but the pivot point seems wrong and that is not adjustable. It returns hydraulically as well so no return spring. As I have it set now, the side stand is difficult to access as the bit that you use to kick the stand out is very close to the left peg. But that's a racing thing too I guess. Other than that- they are pretty good. If anyone wants a picture of them on- just ask and I'll post one. Worth £150 plus the not very good rear light connector tho. For sure. GaryS
Gary, your concern on that back brake was the exact reason I decided not to bother fitting them. For my own personal reason, I would have had no confidence in the rear brake set up as proposed. Hence why I have my set up for sale, and never even fitted the brake side. I am sure, however, that as you say, them being racing rearsets means thus is likely a standard acceptable. I prefer, and have full confidence in the standard set up. Thanks for the write up.
No issues with the back brake on mine. Assume when you talk about the rear brake light switch you've change it for the hydraulic type? If so, sure the back brakes been bled correctly?
