Not sure if you've had a bell Nigel but some of the models are quite a heavy lid and the fit can be a bit strange ...
Here’s my Bell Carbon M5X Daytona. I quite like the lid but the vents are fixed non opening which can make it noisy and cold. Nice and light.
The shark race R carbon is lovely and it matches the carbon Daytona perfectly, in the promo videos of the Daytona it’s the helmet that was being used
I bought one it’s lush my only gripe is the end of the chin strap it has a small magnetic end this can be difficult to fix down.
You might have to factor in the cost of a road legal light smoke visor, as mine came with a clear visor and a race tint visor (which is for track use only - a very dark tint). So paid for an extra light tinted road visor - which has a larger visor opening tab compared to the race one. They must figure that racers are not so concerned with opening their visor, so the tab for opening the visor is quite small. The other visor has a larger tab on it to make it easier to open. As gary@1966 mentions - the end of the chin strap has a magnet instead of a popper, to secure the loose end of the chin strap. It may work with practice but I have always tucked the loose end back underneath the chin strap anyway. I do not ride with the visor up very often but there can be, at certain head angles/speeds a bit of whistling noise from the open visor if you ride with it wide open. The other thing is carrying it. It seems to have a wide chin bar and rubber nose piece that means you cannot just grab it by the chin bar to carry it. So I carry it by the D ring or strap. Overall, very very pleased with both of them. The red/white/blue one has the clear visor fitted and gets used in the dark or poor light and the carbon one has the light smoke visor fitted and gets used the rest of the time.
Bought my mrs the shark carbon sparten with the self seal visor, don't know if your has the same, but make sure its aligned correctly has it has a tendency to flip up on its own
Nigel, I didn't want the dark visor, I did ask for the or the self-tint (chromatic) visor but none available and there are fookin expensive
The chromatic ones have one major issue accirding to someone I know in that they do not change fast enough. Ride in the sun and then hit a shaded area near a bend and apparently it can be interesting not being able to see where you are going.
After a lot of consideration and some discussion with my Triumph dealer I’ve decided to cancel my order for the Daytona Moto 2. I think I was hoping that Triumph would do something with the front end and the headlight arrangement that just seems to detract from what otherwise would be a great bike. I’m going to regret cancelling it I know, but the Street Triple RS looks such good value in comparison. If Triumph had delivered a month or so ago I’m sure I’d be happy, but I’ve had too long to look at what else is out there. The new blade looks odd to me, and over priced.. so I’m going to ponder what to buy next and enjoy looking.
Ice doc, there’s a little part of me regrets cancelling my order, but I can tell you the RS is a great bike and there’s some cracking deals on 18/19 models. I still think I will own a Daytona 765 one day but this year coming I have decided to go racing on my 765 RS exciting times ahead
Yeah the new RS looks like a lot of bike for the money compared to the Daytona. But I’m pretty certain I prefer the riding position on the Daytona. Will look at an RS in the spring I think.
I loved my Street Triple R and my Daytona even more so and don’t suppose they even compare with the new RS and deffo not with the Daytona but I part ex’d my D675 after a brief flirt with an MT10 and I can tell you nothing compares! I bought the Tona as I was missing my sportsbike fix but I don’t miss it on the MT. It’s an animal and with the K-Tech suspension it even handles well!
