What are the chances of the 2020 street triple RS thats launching next week making the exact same 130PS as the moto2 replica?
I imagine this is a bit of a dilemma for Triumph. Do they use the same Moto2 inspired engine destined for Daytona and risk making the Daytona less unique and potentially alienating customers, or do they use it and hike the price of the RS.. I’m thinking the latter. I guess we’ll find out in a few days..
Current street triple has 123ps, moto2 daytona has 130ps. Next years street triple will have to be euro5 which so far for other manufacturers has meant a boost in hp. If the marketers are clever they will give the street triple 127ps and maintain the illusion that the daytona is a special moto2 engine. I'm cynical but for my mind it's going to be the same engine. Let's face it, the moto2 daytona should have been the 150hp that we all thought it might be.
It'll be a 765 triple engine, I doubt they will market it as being breathed on by race engineers though. It'll still be basically the same engine though in the same way that they SP2 has the same engine as other blades. The Moto2 rep is more of a package, or marketing ploy if you are more cynical, that is being aimed more at the enthusiast/collector.
Interesting, no not heard anything about different colour options. Must be for the US market as you’re assuming. I like the silver grey carbon fibre bodywork. It really looks much better in the flesh and the photos don’t do the engine note justice
In fact if you go to the USA Triumph website it shows the Daytona with the red stripes.. so that’s definitely it.
That time doesn’t seem to be fixed yet either - did ask my dealer for an update but around March is still the date. Still pushing for a dedicated factory tour to see my bike being built.. not getting far at the moment but will keep pushing.
If they ever build a top superbike I will be first in the queue only if it was built here,,,,would love to be able to buy the Norton and ride it out from Donnington...
I wouldn't get hung up on the British built thing. A Thai work force will be far more conscientious and hard working than a British one.
