That was one advantage with the ss750. I had to swap the plugs so often that the fairing was off more often than not. Couldn't resist having a bit a dust around every time I was in there.
To do the greasy bits I just get an engine degreaser from the local motor factors £1 per can, blast the hard to reach bits brush em with a paint brush or the likes then blast them again, allow to dry then use engine dresser it looks lovely afterwards!
Halfords have a 12v orbital detailer for £25... Makes light work of swirls etc...and works as good as the megs one, plus, being 12v has less chance of burning the paintwork.
When mine needs doing, im just going to ask Bats my garage needs painting again, and can i leave it at his, it will come back minter than mint Shhhhhh
My mates gixxer 6 is in my garage after a slow high side I'm fixing it for him it was disgusting. It was really upsetting me seeing it sat their so I attacked it Just a few pics! I know it prob don't look like much, he's bringing me the tools tomorrow to do it properly so I can get wheels off etc. I wish I'd took mire bids before n after. I sent him these and he asked me if I'd sold his bike and bought him a new one lol
Haven't got the time or the inclination to detail mine more than ape ing 90 minutes with Vulcanet wipes and a microfiber cloth. Would pay to get my bike done though
The thing is, it takes a good weekend with a good run up to do the car properly, including the Friday evening to do the wash. It needs to be dry but not sunny, no real breeze to speak of. Then it rains on the way to work on Monday. The next weekend, if all the same conditions apply, it's the other car's turn, and for some reason Jeanette insists on driving it through a farmyard at least twice a week. Then a good day and a half on the bike too?... It's lucky for me I don't eat, drink, sleep or have any friends to socialise with come the end of the week.
After a swift google search, Mo-Clean (based in Croydon) do a full monty detail at your house for c.£150
it will strip any protection on the paint, and is very high in salts which will dry your paint out and as said above will eventually dull the paints finish. as said above get yourself a good quality shampoo and re-stock before you run out so you dont have the temptation of reaching for the fairy liquid.
Spot on, Matt. Anything designed to clean dishes is scary stuff for cleaning your P&J. But it does make your hands as soft as your face. Something worth discussing at the next 1000rr Fat Losers coffee morning, perhaps.
I use the bike all year round but when she comes in for her winter service it gets a complete cleaning and I mean in side and out. Rad off pipes off air box out cleaned all the throttle body's and injectors then on to the motor. Completely clean down the front where it gets caked with sh1t all year. The results from that. THen the pipes got a dam good cleaning and the rad was soaked for a few hours to remove the crud out of it. That wasn't to bad this year as I got an R&G res grill and it has helped keep the big bugs and stuff out. Then the wheels come out and the swinger was cleaned Then after much scrubbing the paint with a Brillo pad this was the results.
