I did do oulton in the pissing down rain but didnt have wets with me so after sliding around on racetecs called it a day! Ha Is a good track, but no higher on the faint hearted scale than any of the other I've rode tbh. You should get out and try some more mate.
My brother is going to Donny tomorrow for the first time any tips or useful info for him about the track mate?
Yeah! Pin it lol... Limited time and varying conditions but my initial comments 1st right hander stay left real late, late apex set you up nicely for next corner. It's slippery when wet Be carfull down back straight - two humps which are great to wheelie over but seriously shortens breaking into cicane Two hairpins stay wide, square off as you can then outbreak folk (unless they have same idea ha) Be carefull as its a track with cambers and blind crests that unless you get right line can quickly find yourself running out of track on corner exit It's brilliant though, one of my favourite tracks so far. He will love it as its very flowing and will suit his bike
Yeah Donny in dry very nice, Can get a little slippery when wet, but then what doesn't Out of hospital today, awesome Fully fit (ish) lol
good news mate! hope it continues to improve.... indeed they are, and i'm no expert and certainly not much time on wets tbh but it did feel a little more slippery than usual when damp and on full wets.... that said, was on metzler rain and used dunlops before which were AMAZING. might of been tyres, might of been track, might be i was nervious as crashed last time. be interested to hear some local guys views on this..... someone mentioned fuel from planes yesterday, but soulds bit like an urban myth / excuse once binned tbh....
Yeah planes high for fuel to cover track, wind would blow away anyway? Maybe the track is a little smoothing places making wet a little more slippery, Or like you say, people bin it and blame the planes lol ;-)
Ha.... Yeah! Good excuse as any lol... I can't see it tbh, I'd just out it down to track surface as they are all diff and affect tyre wear differenty (also due to layout) so grip levels must change. Not that I'm saying its bad - as had no issues in dry, just a bit more movement on wets compared to brands / dunlops. Are a few dinks, chips and patches though must admit.
Tiz no myth Jimbo! Can't comment on the Track per se as I've never ridden it but been many times. When I used to work for Manweb/Scottish Power one of my area's was Knutsford/Ashley/Hale Barns etc The roads around here especially Ashley are on the main flight path from/to Manchester Airport and only a mile or two away. The roads were always significantly more slippy when pushing on (which was always in a Diesel Van! ) and down right lethal when damp or raining. Was purely down to the spewed out kerosene littering the area from the Aircraft on full throttle take offs!
