Keep reading this thread trying to understand just how a 5 minute hack with a total stranger can provide a comparison of two bikes performance? Sorry but how could anyone possibly know what gear the other persons in? On the road I reckon 9 out of 10 riders hit a limit to just how fast they can ride, regardless of the bike. I'm not talking in a straight line btw, I mean ride. On a track, well I watched our very own Andy smoke almost everyone on a grands worth of zx7 So when I'm out on my old 929 riding quicker than 80% of the people I ride with its because the 929's a better bike? You have you opinion that you smoked him, bet he has he's opinion too when he left you through traffic- who's right? Who actually cares?
Not wanting to sound like a complete kill joy here at all, but if you want to go and ride fast, take it to the track. The roads nowadays are not the place. I am as guilty as the next for getting out and giving it the beans on the bike on the road, but I have since taken up racing and realise that the track is the place to let rip properly. There is so much at stake on the roads and this was highlighted to me earlier in the year by loss of a great friend (on his 1198). It is the aftermath that is so sad, his 4 kids growing up without a father etc. I am not preaching or the like, as I have more than had my fair share of fast road riding, but just take care people.
The thread was supposed to be a light hearted one. Hence the smiley in the topc? I was surprised to appear to have power on him. I was also surprised at all the speccy finger wagging. And stat talking. And those being so glad to piss on my fireworks. etc. Maybe his bike was broken, maybe mines quick. Probably he was giving it beans - 10% .. I really don't give that much of a toss to be honest. But show me someone else with a blade that says he wouldn't try to keep up, and I'll shout FIBBER
Exactly rhe point I was making about them turning far faster but no doubt someone will be along soon to tell you That your wrong lol. Anyway im getting bored of this now....all Hale the mighty blade lol peace out
I spanked a k2 gixxer1000 at the weekend on the twisties then the bloke pulled me over we had a nice chat and he bought me a pint in the local I may have been quicker but he made me feel small when he popped some huge wheelies down the road so it's not all about who's quickest
I bet when or if McPint goes for a ride plenty of people pass him? Is he slow on the road? Maybe he just thinks like me "Sod it" I can't be assed.... not that I get passed that often but I do have days on my Blade when I think I'm just cruzin (not that I think I am fast at all, some do as I can ride faster down a B road on 30bhp of DRZ-SM than some on 130bhp of R1???), just taking it all in and enjoing life and the ride... I did burn up three or four lads on R1's, Blades and a RSV4 a while back they even came over at the cafe' and said how fast my 1098 was!! Then felt like a pratt when I said its an 848 mate - see says it on the side....lol Anyway road riding is about weighing up risk, are you willing to take the risks? Blind bend, gravel, on coming cars etc or just a good few years in clink? Those are up to the rider at the time, maybe some red mist will help him push hard and forget the risks?? Lots to gamble and guess on... I like to say for those who "think" they are fast why not enter a race or two, join my mates in the axe murder class in T-Sport or show us all and apply here:- Competitors - The official Isle of Man TT website Track days are one thing racing is another have a go you'd be surprised how slow you really are.....lol anyway I think ALL the current line up of superbikes and supersport are fast! Think one v the other is splitting hairs tbh
Well in all fairness I was off my game yesterday, I let loads go, took corners badly .. watching me you'd think I was a slow bastard. I felt like one too .. shocking I was .. SHOCKING.
lol, and think of all those threads now on the net saying... I burned up this dude yesterday on a blade....lol Those blades are slow.....lol Your letting the side down mate! Now go take yourself to a mirror and give yourself a good slap and repeat " I must remain FULL throttle ALL of the TIME!! "
Fuck ... I didn't think of that. Sorry lads. Must try harder 1190 Brutale is not an ordinary Naked though .. he was keen enough ... Apart from that I hate my tyres .. going to find something with more grip that BT023's
Well said Arthur! I have started racing this year. I considered myself to be a quick road rider, a good track day rider, but since going into the Formula 600 category and racing a superstock R6, it has made me realise I am actually not all that quick. the front running lads are another league again, especially a one Sam Hornsey who is also riding in British Supersports this year. It is amazing to watch these guys in action. Having said that, i am getting quicker, but to get to their pace is a good couple of years off yet. If I ever do make that level!!
Good luck to you mate! I see and know many who try and try and never come close to the pace of others and like you say you have to admire the natural talent that some of them seem to have. BUT you ARE having a go and that takes BALLS!!! and you will get faster thats a fact... You have my respect for getting onto the grid and doing something that many think about but never do, takes some proper dedication mate so hats off!
Road racers have more balls than track racers. How on earth you get into that game ... and stay alive .. I mean .. howsit done? You go to the track and then think .. fuck it.. I'll enter the TT? Sod that.
Huge thanks Arthur! It has been a massive wake up, but even with my two big offs this year, I still wouldn't change it. It is just the best thing I have done. OK, i am trying to build up my confidence again after my last big scenery interface, but I am determined to get better. Time and patience are key and not getting carried away and disheartened as others pass you, knowing full well that you have previously been running ahead of them. thanks again for your support, it is great to know that the support is there!
That's just how... you enter say a club round and do well, so you enter say SS round, then think...right I'll go MAN SIZE! (Or woman size in respect to the likes of JT) Then all you have to do is keep your blade on the limiter round the TT for the whole time....easy right.... lol Pin IT!
Mate listen let me tell you now I am 100% in respect of your efforts!!! Id shake your hand and wish you the best of luck, hope you do well and stay safe in what your doing! Truly have a drink on me! Good luck!
