I use 10-40 in the 929, perhaps that's the difference? Only use the 10-30 in the 10 as that's what Honda state to use

I heard that same reasoning from a technician down here so perhaps there's something to it.

Mine 2011 blade used 600ml in 4000 miles. And only filled it up at just under 4k as the first 2 it did not move

I rode on my 25 000 ml fill tried different oil 10-30 and 10-40. And even the original Honda oil the result is not changed by eating a 500ml 1000m. Diller suggest to change the clutch, I did the same thing! I think need to change piston has to fill up until the butter.

I have a 2010 HRC not rode it enough to find out if it goes through oil, I only got it Oct 11 but what i've heard we just have to put up with it!!!..:( But it's not just Honda bikes I had 2 Civic 2.2 ctdi a 55 & 06 amazing car to drive but it was a piece of shite!! again problem after problem clutch,Gearbox and suspension i found most owners i spoke to had the same runaround with honda dealers I ended up gettin shot of it just after the warranty run out and bought a humble mondeo that's never let us down! Dono what's going on with Honda just now they make amazing cars and bikes then spoil it buy not addressing problems that arise! It's a case of that just the way it is now get on with it.

So did I but as I never used any oil in 2k when i did my 1800 miles in 6 days in Europe I never checked the oil. As I said only used 600ml in 4k.

OK Honda Say 1000ml per 1000k But wonder how many use more or much less

Took it easy for the first 100 mile and then cranked it on.....as i was on my way to the Nurburgring.
Bike uses approx 500-600ml per 1000 miles.
Bike has now done 7500 Miles and still brings a huge smile everytime i ride her :)

500 - 600 ml in a 1000 miles? Thats worse than an EXUP, which are notorious for using oil! I didnt think there were any bikes out there that could be worse than EXUP's but it seems there are.

It really does shock me that honda have decided not to fix this problem for the 2012 bike as this engine will remain in production for at least another 2-3 years untill the bike is redesigned again. the annoying thing is is that the engine is not even bursting its balls to produce its power. kawasaki showed in 2004 that 181bhp was possible without any issues. if anything the engine is under powered to make it the amazing road engine that it is

so enough of the bad news . how many of you have no problems with oil usage, just so we can get a balanced picture of if this is a big issue or not.
and as per the earlier post , how did you run the bike in?

Got an RR8. Drinks about a litre every 1,000-1,200 miles.

    It's a 'feature' I can live with.

When u really think about a bike engine kicking out 150RW BHP from 999cc that's some high tolerance engine. What would u get from a 999cc car engine ? 40-50bhp ?

As above even if my blade used more oil I'm happy with it

you are joking most 1000cc cars make 100bhp these days.
dont care what anyone at honda says this is not acceptable for a modern engine.
other manufacturers with higher output engines dont have the same trouble
i work for a truck dealership , the truck manufacturer had trouble using oil on a certain engine type, they recalled loads of trucks as there was a problem with the liner and piston rings.also with valve stem seals and turbos . cost them loads to do ,but at least they did something about it.
once you get a bad reputation for reliability it takes years to get over it.
