Rob came back on the forum briefly but failed to appoint any new admin/moderator so we are stuck as we are
How does this work then. Does Rob have to relinquish authority before anyone else can take over or what?
No, Rob set up the forum so is top of the hierarchy. He can appoint administrators, moderators or staff (whatever the terminology for this forum is) below him with I assume varying levels of authority to block or delete individual posts, threads or members. The issue is that the last such member was last on a long time ago (maybe 18 months or more) and Rob isn’t active on this forum. In the summer I managed to get a message to him via the admin of the Triumph forum I’m on (and that Rob also started). He came on here and asked who would be interested to be an admin, but he’s not been back on since. I’ve asked the triumph guy to message him again but that’s as much as I can do. I understand from others that Rob is active on the Ducati forum so anyone who is on that one feel free to try and get him to come back here and sort things out.
Thanks for the explanation Boothman. It's a shame we are all tied to someone else's lack of interest.
He gets revenue from the ads and explains why he's created multiple brand forums so he's unlikely to give it up i think!! Pretty clever business sense from his side of things but does feel like the forums been left to run itself a bit
I finally tried this and very happ with the outcome considering how bad the attacks are maybe this "solution" should be put as a sticky in the forum annoucement with an appropriate title
That's the whole point mate, if we had someone who could do that we could just ban the spammer in the first place
Guys I do agree and share your pain. Just seen a couple of post that might not add up. I’m a little concerned this thread could be a green light for scammers. Might be a better option for someone to start another forum and we all move over.
Presume if he's kosher then there'd be no trouble giving some details that could be verified. Trouble is, these days, you tend to distrust posts like them because scamming is such a problem which leaves the honest ones out in the cold. That's where the internet has brought us to.
Plus its always been frowned upon when someone's first post is offering things for sale. This is why on other forums you can't do that and are encouraged to subscribe, which was £5 on Ducati forum. Why would anyone buy anything from Scotland unless you lived there anyway?? There's a Honda dealer in every City ffs
Agree, it's not best practice. Another reason for getting Admin to get off their respective arses. Plus I look crap in a kilt
I see we're now getting Russian bots invading the site with AllenNes under New Members. All that says is "Click Here" so would suggest no one does.
Haven’t been on the forum for a while, holy shit what’s with all the spam. Looks like it’s been taken over by a virus.
