You weren't kidding, I'm nearly through the sliders on both sides now - loving it And as for a pic... Poor quality as it's a still from a vid but you get the idea...
My first time was at Haslam Race School at Silverstone. Since being at Donington I've had knee down action on all the right handers but struggle with the left round Goddards. Only just purchased an 08 Blade and don't want to drop it so may not push it on the road! That said my instructor said if your body position is right your knee will go down naturally and you're much safer because the bike will be stood up more.
Been waiting to update this tread!! Well done it now both sides and on camera Must get the exhaust repositioned kept touching... Can see why in this pic
Well done mate! I got my first knee down at the Ron Haslam race school, and was so shocked I'd finally done it - I only wish someone had a microphone in my helmet to record me screaming like I haven't screamed before - was over the moon! I have a few choice roundabouts near me which, providing it is an early Sunday morning are pretty great for practicing on. Having said that, i still don't manage to nail it every time and normally takes a few goes to get back in the swing of things, which makes me think I still have some practice to do. But what a great feeling heh!? Good work.
Your heel needs to be touching the swing arm, knee and leg needs to make an angle of about 70 degrees to the white fairing. Also get your head at least parallel to the mirror and lastly counter steer at 30mph constant throttle ; you cannot fail to put knee down. I do it all the time round roundabouts.
I have had to order some new boot sliders too, they wear down real quick! Maybe I need some higher rear sets?
I have bought the pic but the disk is at home and I'm working in Canada for another 2 weeks (I am also a tight bugger).
There is a knee course at Rufforth near York. i2i I think it is called. Run by Tom,,,,brilliant. However; it might be wise to leave until next year , warmer conditions etc. As a guide, stick the a cardboard toilet roll middle on your slider, create little tabs and sellotape on. It looks dodgy. But it is effective. I started at 3inches, when this was ripped off I moved down to 1 inch etc.
