Gold disc lock is a Roadlok unit. Seriously thinking about one of them myself, although they are not cheap. Does mean that you don't have to carry it (it's always attached) just the pin that goes in it. Bike can't move once it's activated either, unlike a standard u-lock due to the gaps in the rotors they get attached through.
I couldn't even see that disc lock which to me is a disadvantage as a thief will keep trying until the drop it! No offence intended
Disc locks are a waste of time IMHO as any thief intent on nicking your bike will come armed with a Van and at least enough accomplices to lift the Bike straight in to said Van.
Who knows... There's always plenty speeding down Aldgate High Street and Whitechapel every day though... They drive up Mansel Street every couple of minutes, so that's not a million miles away from Whites Row... Yet when the attendants there ring the cops because they're chasing the thieves out several times a day they get nothing... I bet if they gave them a smack the cops would be there in 2 minutes protecting the thieves civil liberties. H

I used to park under the National Theatre on the South Bank. Thieves used to come in two up on a scooter. One would jump on the bike and the other would push him out round the barriers with his foot. CCTV, guards everything. Brilliant. Think they've improved now. There was one up west that was notorious for being an all-you-can-nick for thieves. Was it Chinatown or Soho?
SNAP... That's what they did to my 600RR in Feb... From Whites Row in London... guards 24x7, CCTV... Nice piccy of them taking it apparently. On the long train journey home (Full leathers etc) I met a block who had done the same journey twice... Same carpark too... H
I agree joking aside, hoping that just members can view this is a pipe dream. i would state in a open forum what exactly lies behind that door. Let just say suitable levels...
They do come in a number of colours from subtle to very bright. Absolutley, it doesn't stop a determined person from nicking your prized possession, but it does stop some one walking past from just trying to wheel it away. The bike wont move once engaged, so even if you forget its there all that happens is it should just stall. Its not a be all solution. When someone could just get enough people round and manhandle it into a van, there is very little they can do. Of course, if mine has something to make it more difficult to take and its parked next to yours and you have nothing, which is the better risk/reward for them? It would need to be stolen to order for them to still pick mine.
I think that the trouble is if these dirty scum really want your bike they will go to extreme measures to get it and you'll find most forms of security are only a hindrance to the experts, I think normal levels of security like alarms, disc locks, big chains, ground anchors will deter the opportunist or the little scrotes on mopeds!!
I've installed secure electric roller garage doors without any side doors etc Sophisticated alarm system which text and calls my mobile Sophisticated CCTV which can be viewed from smart phone Ground anchors etc
