I’ll make some popcorn while waiting. Must say nigel s got a point. If the shaft has play then there could be a prob inside where the xtra support helps A quick shifter would only dip the rpm
I fitted a Gilles ones about two and a half years ago after having the bike for a year. Firmed up the gear changes no end and don't regret buying it at all.
Yep had a Gilles fitted on my 14 plate... Echo above comment with it feeling more of a precise and direct feel, It certainly felt improved on up and downshifts...Highly recommended
Aww you buggers! Looks like I’m going to have to get one before me postman stops for Xmas. Can’t believe you lot making me part with my money so easily!
So the bike has come into the workshop today. I have pre made some mods. But the technical measurements took a nose dive when I grabbed the end of the gear lever and pulled it up and down. It does rattle now the gear lever DU bushes have been changed for needle roller bearings. I did make it like the aftermarket type needle roller bearing going straight onto the gear lever shaft but I did not like the wear marks on the shaft ( shown in the picture ) so I have fitted a larger needle bearing and a hardened sleeve to fit on the gear shaft. Now there is no play in the shaft
I have a H&M quickshifter with Honda gear indicator, still get the odd neutral shift. @mk3golfcab it is annoying lol!
I have to say it did nothing I was expecting it to do. Altho the shaft has now 0 "wiggle", gears still feel clunky. Also, I did experience a false neutral the other day, using quickshift.
I can say the needle roller bearings on the gear lever have made a big difference, I would say more than the support, This year it has been so much better
I put needle rollers in the gear lever as well as the output shaft support, It takes a bit of doing but well worth it
