great thread, loved group B. i can remember following the RAC rally through the night, back when it was a proper British rally and not just the welsh rally. loved the short quattro and the delta s4, got hit on the hand by a rock from toivenens car in the forest of AE.
ROFL. I know he didn't like me, he died the day before I got married rather than come to the service and there were about thirty rally drivers in mourning at the ceremony.
i was shocked when he died as he had a real superstar persona, but the whole group B thing had a certain inevitability to it. the cars were so fast, plastic and full of petrol. still gives me shivers watching some of the youtube videos from that era.
They've done nothing but bang on ever since that the different replacement groups were as fast but watch some of the footage and compare them.
