You're lucky to have got it repaired if it had slime in it. Most places won't touch a tyre once it's had slime in it.
As for the OP only he can determine how he feels about a plugged tyre As for the issues, Michelin have a repair guide for their bike tyres, the obvious rules apply, location of puncture, size of hole etc etc. I think my record was 4 plugs in a rear Pilot, had just about every rear tyre plugged at least once over last 15 years or so without a single issue Most bike dealers cite duty of care shite, take it to a car tyre dealer, they will only fix it if it's safe to do so.
I've been going to garage for m o t,s since I was 17 he's in to bike's I asked him if he would fix it if it was his he said yes and fixed it cost me a £5
There should be no issue if it has been done properly as unlike tubed tyres as you do not get blow outs or instant deflation. Even if it lost pressure, it will be a gradual loss of pressure. If the plug (or mushroom) is fitted from the inside and vulcanised, and as mentioned is not more than 50% beyond the centre of the tyre or compromising the side wall, there is no issue and the chairman of the BSI tyre commitee even makes the plugs that go inside punctured tyres. Some dealers will tell you that it is illegal to repair.... Total rubbish... They either just want to sell you a new tyre, or they do not have the repair facilities. I have run 3 plugs in one tyre on the Blackbird (and several other bikes for that matter) and never had an issue which includes having done several laps of the Nurburgring, Spa, Silverstone and so on. However, using the external get you home plugs has caused problems for many as it can cause the tyre to delaminate as you push the plug into the tyre and I have dealt with several crashes where the cause of the crash has been as a direct consequence of using an external plug. I have also had people who have lost control because of some of these internal slime type products causing a wheel imbalance, apart from which it is a b@stard to clean off when it comes to fitting new tyres and many dealers will charge you extra. In 30 + years of investigating bike crashes, I have never dealt with one caused by an internal vulcanised plug but several using external non vulcanised plugs. Manufucturers are usually quite happy for a tyre to be plugged once. Some will allow 2, but it varies from make to make. And I did sit on the BSI tyre committee for a while, albeit a few years ago now.
And I did fit and repair tyres for a living at one time ( including fitting and balancing tyres for the last person to win an international rally in a mini ). To do a proper mushroom type repair (even in those days before elf 'n' safety) relied on the interior of the tyre being in good condition. Running slime in a tyre normally means the fitter has to clean the inside thoroughly before he can use adhesive to fix the mushroom. Most people could do it, but few could do it well
