So the HJC RPHA-11 has been and is going.... Vents leak when closed, cheek pads dislodge when helmet removed, mists up like I've never experienced in any other helmet and to top it off cracks around the visor latch, and which had only been used on 4 occasions. Shoei Xspirit will be sourced to replace it.
A comprehensive list of fails ! Reference the misting up problem: I have noticed that the visor vent does not work that well in the tuck position, but works much better if you straighten your head. The reason seems to be the shape of the vent - when in the tuck, much of the surface area is greatly reduced. Straighten your head and the full area of the vent is open allowing in air that clears the visor. Interestingly my Arai RX7V has a curved, odd looking chin air vent - odd looking when viewed upright, but tilt the lid forward and the vent opens like a scoop - probably more effective with the head tilted forward, than with the head straight up - kind of the opposite to the RPHA 11 But anyway, even so my Arai collects the dust and my RPHA 11 gets used as first choice ........ I hope your Shoei works out all right !
I must admit, I moved from Arai to HJC. I remember trying on a Lorenzo RPHA 10 on in my local bike shop and thinking what a great fit and so comfy. I currently use a RPHA 11, lovely and light, vents work well and it doesn't push back at high speeds. (70 MPH) yeah right!!!
I had the same problem and couldn't decide between both of them. I found an easy solution and bought both!
I got the hjc rpha 11 as a spare to my aria chaser and I wear the hjc all the time and I love it , all the vents are good and it never mists , its lighter , and I have a black visor and pin lock fitted ,
