I was in Millen before! ;) I was looking at the 750 tbh they offered me £5500 against an ex demo 14 plate. To me I'm parting with £2.5k for the same bike with and extra few ponies? Didn't stack up? As you say a blade is just that. Also insurance is double the gixxer 6 for a gixxer thou yet a blade is less than my gixxer 6?! I do like the 750 and it was my obvious choice but I think I may be still wanting more...?

Hi and welcome. At 5'8" you may have a problem with a blade. I'm almost 5'10 and I can just reach the floor with tip toes only. I had to lay my blade down in the road this weekend as I couldnt hold it up at a junction on a hill (no damage, only the frame slider touched down).

My wife is 5'7'' with a 31'' inside leg and has no problem getting both feet flat on the ground, that also with a thicker power bronze seat. She finds it lower than my previous 600f. Only had my blade a couple of months but love the creamy power delivery and the instinctive handling. Another from the NW area but more south of the region.

I'm 5ft 7"with a short inside leg measurement. I don't have a problem touching down on my 2012 blade, nor did I have a problem with my 2008 blade

Thanks Madfish had me a bit worried then! I had a GSR 750 which always felt top heavy to me so I fitted a lowering kit which helped but I still always felt like a passenger rather than part of the bike. The Gixxer feels just that, I'm in the dynamics of the bike and do love it as I say but I'm all for evolving as a rider and experiencing new rides. The Blade has always seemed the ultimate sports bike to me from when I travelled with a few to the Bol d or in 96 on my NC30! Never thought I'd be ready to own one really! I watched a review on YouTube the other day of an Aussie guy jumping from a Ninja 250 to trying out a blade, he screamed constantly and said he couldn't stop shaking from the adrenaline :) need to go and see some and then sneak one in the garage without the wife noticing!

Dave I dont think you will have a problem, I am also a bit a short arse being 5'5" tall with 29" inside leg. The lifts on the boots help when I come to stop !

I'm 5'8" on a good day and my inside leg is 29-30". Whilst I can't flat foot my RR7 it isn't far off and is easy to support. Personally I find wider seats more of a pain as I have stocky thighs, so if you have "normal" thighs you should be fine especially as I am led to believe the newer blades are smaller.

;) I'm feelin all this short ass comaradery here guys. I tried a Daytona and that was a bit high but as said most of the modern sports seem to be around the 31 inch mark. I'm probably a more confident rider than on my last bike change too!
Goto replace the boiler next week then analys the finances and set my budget...

hi dave and welcome to the shortarse forum,i too am a bit of a dwarf with a 28" inside leg!if you look into my posts you will see that I put up a thread about the height of the blade ,2 years on and I don't give it a thought as the bike is well balanced and not over heavy you can support it on one flat foot if need be.
the only advice I will give is that when you have all youre gear on ie boots and leathers remember to either keep the bike on the sidestand and use the footpeg to gain height or make sure you swing youre leg high enough to miss the seat hump or you will suffer the boot scuff:mad:
sorry if it sounds like im teaching granny and all.
as for owning a blade, well I think its the best bike I have ever owned
    cheers

Cheers Steve I do fear the scuff now with my gear on but am careful, I will have a good route round the forum. Never found a decent gixxer forum yet the GSR had a really great one. Must say this place seems very friendly and well run...

You can have a test run on Trigger (my mega mile re-born Blade) some time, its been around the block but goes well still, just to try for size / decent test ride before you commit

Is there much improvement from 08 to now in the ride of the Blade? When setting a budget it's hard not to let it go up and up! However there's a gorgeous 08 locally for sale done 8k looks well worth closer inspection for less than Id get private for my gixxer. I'll deffo take a look when the snows gone!

Worth watching the oil burn issue on the early 08-09... The 10 > has a few changes and seem to make a bit more power ;)
