I've bought a cheap Chinese one to give it a go. I could easily spend £200 and then realise that I don't to use it as much as I thought. HD 720P Waterproof Sport Helmet Action Camera Cam DVR DV,T18B,1280*720/30fps | eBay If it gets a lot of use, I'll buy a better one. I just hope it lasts long enough for me to get an idea. I'm not expecting much for £33! I'll post a video when it arrives and let you know if I've wasted my money. Pete
I've downloaded but not used the GOPro software as have a copy of SOny Vegas which is good / high end home user editing software (think some films actually been made with it) It has loads and loads of features I've not used (more like don't know how to) but the transitions, ability to overlay / mix tracks, music fades / levels gets something looking halfway slick. Phantom - that side bracket is a newish GoPro addition from memory - while it may look daft it makes you look like less of a TellyTubby than you do if you stick it on TOP of your helmet.... where mine was nicknamed 'The Po cam'
Dont mock cheap China cams - few years ago I got a bunch of 'spy camera / mini cameras made to look like car key fobs - ok they were early generation and not the easiest to use as minimal indicators / buttons but they captured some mint footage in the Pyrenees so I think you could expect good things from that camera -the secret is how / where you mount it to avoid it wobbling and making footage unwatchable - lots of testing needed in advance or bring a tablet device to a trackday and check footage between sessions - also CHARGE IT UP between sessions or they will go flat when you least expect it.
I cant mount it on top of my lid or I cant open my visor. My xlite hae loads of vents so if I mount it it has to be right above The visor.i use sony vegas for most of my videos too
In my honest opinion mate the gopro is too big to mount on a sports bike lid, i did try it once mounted on the side and at speeds of 100+mph it does pull your head to one side, so now i mount it on the fireblades tank, which i do prefer altho it does tend to capture the speedo, which isnt always a good thing, its fine mounted on a lid for motocross but no good for sportsbikes, i think the Baron uses a drift camera, if i wanted a helmet cam for the road then thats what i would go for, if you look at some of the barons vids i am sure theres a link in the description as to where you can buy them from and also think theres a 10% discount code too, hope this helps ade
Well im going to hit youtube for a few reviews on all the cameras. Last camera I had needed a stand alone recorder which was a pain With the wires. This will be my first internal memory cam.
This is a VERY long video (90 minutes) I post it here as it features footage filmed with a variety of GoPro Mk1 (non HD) camera, spy camera key ring one and a mixture of forward and rear facing camera but don't think any helmet camer mounted footage - will give an idea of what you get etc. and also how quickly quailty has advanced - both in camera and also upload quality - I am sure if I 're-uploaded' the footage now it would be better
Looking at so many reviews its making me dizzy. Torn between the drift hd stealth and the replay xd. Replay seems to handle changing light, low light better And is more compact but he drift has a little review screen And a remote :s
Go pro on my lid... yes, it looks a bit silly, but didn't notice too much movement doing 160+ on Autobahn. I like the top of the lid mount as the field of view is fantastic and keeping it at 60fps in 720p, you don't get rolling shutter which can cause the jello effect..also by having on your lid, people notice and wave! hehehe. vid:
Just bringing this one to the surface again, I'm also in the market for a camera or some description, not sure ill be set up for Scotland tour? But certainly wanting to go (equipped) on our European adventure. It's a mine field to say the least. just sat in work thumbing through the MCN and I've just seen this advertised. Anyone any experience with one? £99. GOCLEVER - Global - GOCLEVER DVR SPORT Edit. I guess you should get what you pay for? If the YouTube clip is anything to go by? Ill give it a miss!
Gary, you're welcome to use my Gopro on the scotland tour mate. I need it back for my euro trip though dude.
Si, a truly genuine offer mate. But seriously, if for what ever reason i was to lose/break/FUBAR it? I'd never forgive myself, and would then have to replace the unit anyway, so I'm best getting one of my own when ready. But again, thanks for your kind offer On a totally unrelated topic? I have just been reviewing some of your older posts for a ScalaG4 seems a few lads have them here. I know you and lee DaveV perhaps I could put one to good use with sat nav tunes etc, ill post upt thoughts on the Europe thread later when I get home
DogCam Bullet HD WIDE angled bullet camera I was thinking of getting one these for when I go to Dublin and the Isle of Man this year. The wide angle lens is meant to be good for bikes. Plus there are loads of different mounts for them. They look quite discrete attached to a helmet.
got my new toy today £144 delivered but pay-pal messed up (not the sellers fault) but the seller threw in a spare battery to say sorry
I've seen these at demon tweeks , (I've got a gopro ) , be interested to see what you reckon of this new toy phantom .
havent got out to play with it yet but test footage so far in low light and light/shadows looks good. love the remote control, very useful Idea so you dont record loads of useless footage.
forgot to put in my 32gb card only realised when my 20 minute ride was 4 minutes on tape, ah well lesson learned.
Phantom is it possible to post a picture of camera on helmet please , Also if 32gb card was in how long would it run for ? Thank you .
