This is what their diag printouts look like when they first hook up ya motor to see what it's current state is. Obviously Red is bad, Green is good! Freshly fettled and ready to rock!
thats audi for you! the rs4,s due a service in the new year so i,m expecting to be mugged. i,m more than competent to do 90 percent of it myself but a stamp in the book is a must on high end cars. if they let me take the r8 v10 demo out while i wait it might make me feel slightly better lol
yup use VG parts but audi charge 90-120 per hour for labour so thats where they get you. I got mine plugged in by an independent (non VG) dealer then found the MAF was gone. new part part from VW fitted, labour and part £100, Audi wanted £150 just to plug it in and see what the fault was......got my book stamped too
If you need any VAG parts go to your local TPS and say that you are trade... http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/ I used to manage one.
I would happily buy any car serviced by a independant, in fact I would rather see independant than dealer as they have a vested interest in keeping your custom and know what they are doing and about the car and its faults, both Audi and BMW have been awful in the past with my cars, will never admit there is a fault with anything and charge the earth.
Guys I have the Vagcon original OBD lead and latest software to run a systems check and also have a copy of the VAG parts database where you can see all the part numbers fitted to your model
Similar story here Nav! I used to use Mercedes dealers for servicing but they aint a patch on a decent Indie. Now use a local Indie who's a 'Proper Engineer' and he does a far better job. I even bought my own official Mercedes 'STAR' Diag software and decoder with it's own laptop so I know 'What's occuring' at any point in time! Ebay is your friend!
