Only some need them! Some of us just have a good sense of direction and can park even if it is a 40ft lorry
Hands Up. I also had a Mk 2 RS2000 and sold it for a Capri 2.8i back in the day. Both old school rear wheel drive cars. I can remember the fun I had keeping both cars under control going round bends. Especially the Capri. I still love the thrill of control without assistant from techo gizzos on car & bikes. I did a deal with my 15 plate blade with my dealer, and bought a new Blade SP. Last Pure old school. They way I like them.
Ahhh the Capri. ... A total chick magnet in the day eh There used to be a right bun fight amongst the lasses when one a the local lads used to turn up in his, back in the day I think we broke the record for squashing the most squealing teenagers into one on a regular basis
Yep. Remember dating days with my current wife. Permed hair and Shell-suits. Oh yea and the mallet hair styles.
They didn't build the SRAD 600 until 96! Even the rare North American models in a 750 frame wasn't built until 92-96! Were you in back to the future too.
Opps meant GSX600. without the R. Looking back, I remember starting off on an old twin rear shock Honda XL 125cc which gave me less stress about parking anywhere, cleaning, dents & scratches than my new blade sp.
Heres my old Capri, I've owned alsorts, Alfa spider, GTE's and 3 Porsche Boxster's but asked "if you could buy one of them back", the Capri would be top of my list! It was sideways more than in a straight line, epic car!
I owned a Capri too but it was Shite. My GTE though was the bollox. Sold for £2.5k probably worth nearer £5k now!
Ahhh the good old Ford Crapi. Had 2 if them, the first was a 2l v4 which won me loads of beers from "experts" who insisted that no such thing was ever made. Driving them in Germany during the winter was great fun, always remember one time a mate had to pop the hatch and sit on the rear sill in order for me to get enough traction to go up a hill As for the GTE I had a mk2 16v, and that was effing quick for it's time, albeit not quite Cossie fast. Always remember being home and going to a football match in it. On the way back some sierra driver was being a right knob and so I burnt him off, then sister who had been asleep in the back asked me to slow down. She wasn't impressed with me doing 140kmh, and was even less impressed when I told her I had the speedo in MPH when in the UK [emoji13]
I had a couple of Mk2's Astra's they were great cars in there day and as you say, a step up from the Capri. But nothing will ever beat the fun factory of a tail happy rear wheel drive car. Given the chance, I would buy my old Capri in a heart beat!
I like the Mk2 these days, there is a 16v 1989 G reg one locally. Didn't like them so much back in the day but they have grown on me over the years.
