I totally agree with comments regarding price, its just that once you invested that premium, you really expect something to work at least as well as the standard model (which I'm sure it does for 90% of owners). Plus if they sell it with lights and a plate, its not designed solely for the track. As far as I'm aware it is simply a higher spec version of the 2014 standard model. This should suit the road first and track second as that is its primary market. I am sure anyone thinking of racing a blade would not be buying one of these as a starting point. Or mibbe they will, I don't know!
Don't worry Martin the blades will still be going strong in 20 years time, can't say the same for the Beemer tho tried and tested the blade that is
Pmsl that's up for not far off what they give me for it haha for once I didn't get screwed over by a dealer happy days! Can't wait to get the new bike now I can't sleep I'm that excited...
According to Honda the SP was designed for 60% track and 40% road but have to say I was out on mine for 4 hours today on the twisty road of North Wales, wrists and arms ok, however bum little sore :-(
Just been out with my pal who picked his new sthou up on Friday..I had A run on it and did like it. Defo more bottom end than the previous models.. Nice bike for sure but I would pick the sp over it
Settle Graeme ... Great roads round there. We do venture up to Kirkby Stephen tho.john mcguinness was at devils bridge on his sp
Did you speak to him and if so what's his verdict, daz are you at the tt I am there practice Wednesday until following Wednesday we can have a blast over the mountain on the 600 with you following on your sp ha ha
Didn't see him mate we'd missed him. It was as few days ago. He's doing some road riding to get strength back into his wrist for the tt.. I've spoke to him via social media sites re the sp.. Thumbs up

Haha cheers for that.. Yeah a tow over the mountain would be good if I can't get past you as we exit the gooseneck ... Not booked anything for the tt yet but hoping to make an appearance.. Are you happy with the 600
Looking at the race teams this year there is a large amount of SP's in the teams so were honda telling porkies when they said there would only be 172 in the country? Or was this meant to mean only 172 for public sale? Make no mistake the SP is probably the best handling bike of it's class however it really isn't designed for everyday use not without major changes first however honda say any modifications invalidate your warranty as the SP shouldn't be changed from how it left the factory. Even had to fight to get the tyres changed. Its a shame that honda won't work with their customers on it as improvements could be made for example if it came supplied with an exhaust from say Akra and the quickshifter from HM and say some rear sets for the 15k they sell them for I genuinely believe it would be a market leader for a long time.
Not read the whole thread but when I rode the SP this week I thought it was amazing! MUCH better than the S1 IMO, my customer has just sold the 2012 S1 that I put in the for sale section and got the SP, check my twitter pics for images of the new bike, he says the SP is MUCH better than his modded 2012 S1 and long term I know it will be, check my twitter too for images of the low mile S1 that I had last week as it has cut out in the rain, tbh it's each to his own but I'd say 100% that the SP would be the bike for me, it has larger inlet stacks and the mods to the motor gives an engine that is sublime over a standard blade. As for Honda stopping people from modding it that's bull (not saying that it is but I mean they could if they wanted), I'd stand up for the local Honda dealer here and tbh I have passed on the changing of this customers Brembo master as for fear of issues linked to me for changing it should he have problems with his SPs ABS, Honda are changing the master and some other bits of the bike for him in regards to the ABS system, underslung Brembo brake caliper etc, they are happy to do the work and warantee the bike. Hope you get on well with the S1, it's a GREAT bike just IMO blown up by media as is the ZX10R, I know the race classes reflect how good the stockers are but IMO the SP is the best blade ever and I hope to see it run well in stock classes. The midrange is stunning, my customer has been having some fun with his 2012 10R and so far the blade has shown to be king, I was surprised how quick the Honda is. I loved it! https://twitter.com/arthurbikemad
Defo 172 in the uk nick but i think around 150 have gone to the public.. A lot of Superstock blades built on the sp but I'm not sute they will outdo the zx10 to be honest because of the price..lolokh forward to the tt to see the Honda reign supreme..agree about the sp needing to come with a csn, qs etc but I reakon this would only put the price up to over 16k and where would the fun be if uoi can't personalise it to add the bits you want.. The engine is so smooth and powerful it's a joy to ride. Love it !what deal did you get on the bm? I did enjoy being ont mates yesterday . Defo a great bike that will hopefuly have you smiling for a long time to come
