Ling gets invited to the once a year Cartier closed sale, I only went once and was amazed at the discounts but got pissed off being pushed and barged by well minted foreign women spending their husbands money. The last one she went to she called me and said there was a white gold Santos for 7K. Normal price was 11.5k, by the time I had looked at it on the internet and said Yes I will have one, and if I don’t like it we can always re sell it for a profit they had all gone, in less than a couple of minutes.

Suunto are a Finnish company. I understand some of their range are manufactured in China but this model isn't one of them. Agree they are similar to the G-Shocks in many ways though, which is why I bought it ;)

I wasn`t talking about the range topping G shock, i am on about the base model, it even has a little button on the side that if pressed, you can see the time in the dark. Is it me or has technology gone f**kin mad, i don`t now how they do it.....( hopefully this one`s the fishing rod aswell).

Because its so difficult to make even a very expensive watch really, really accurate. It's better to have one that doesn't work at all. Then you can guarantee it'll be right twice a day.

Shirley that only counts for a wind up one, because if my Casio was broke , there would be nothing on the screen? Apologies for being pedantic , but, i am ill & have too much time on my hands( another play on words, `too much time on my hands` & were talking about watches, get it).

I don't and have never owned a watch even prior to mobiles if i wanted the time i just asked. This is not a tight thing its just that Watches/ Rings .Things hanging around the neck would just be annoying so a great big heavy watch as Thread would not really be nessesary 'would it?'

I confess. I love watches. When I sold my last house I wanted a Tag or an omega.Instead I bought a Citizen eco drive. My missus said to me looking at em, in the jeweller window.Thats alot of money, if we had that to spare before the house was sold would you have bought one?Answer was no.So an eco drive it was.Got the car and bike we wanted so I can't complain.

Oris miles complication for me. It's worn every day, and loses around 1 minute a week, which is good for an automatic.

I'd love a Patek but need a lottery win...
