Dymag carbon fibre wheels don't look bad and are a little cheaper than BST's! Not sure if anyone here has them though
If you could BST , go with ....... Before my BST i ve PVM 6 spokes , like SBK Blade, and BST are again better ......
Thank you for all the responses guys. This is where I am at the moment: If my blade was any other scheme than the repsol, then my mind would be made up, but I keep toggling between pics and I'm torn... If I am going to buy new wheels then it has to be BST's, although I like the 7 spoke marchesinis, by the time you got them painted I bet you are not a million miles away in cost from the BST's... As my bike is a low miles pampered little toy, then the strength of the wheels doesn't concern me massively, but for this reason I'd only be interested in a brand new set with the two year warranty. That means I'm looking at £2.6k. BIKE HPS are offering free front brake disks at the mo, realistically (using man Maths) taking the price down to £2.2k. These wheels sell for £1.5k second hand all day long. This means it will cost £700 to own the wheels, so say I kept them for 18 months and sold them with 6 months warranty left (for example) they would have only cost me £8.97 per week, or a magazine and a McDonald's per week. Which seems like a bargain really. As you can probably tell, my man Mathis gets me in trouble a lot! My other concern was tyre changing, but having Arthur on hand takes that concern away.
So as I had to change some tyres this morning thought you may see some tempting pics. Out with the old and in... Lots of care needed to brake the bead, DO NOT crush the rims I have a M500 tyre machine and it has some nice features like these plastic blocks that grip the rims Also it has auto offset of 1.5mm so it NEVER touches the rim! It holds that offset when lifting the tyre over the foot of the machine. Same again, you need a steady hand with £1,500 wheel, and even more with a D16RR rear at £7,500! Removed
Align the balance assist markers and run it on. On A quick balance up. And back in the bike. Now the front. This shows how light my 848 wheel is Mind you no hub on these. Looks good, go's even better!
Nice workshop matey! I saw he has the 2012/2013 bodywork but thought he had an older blade.. does the new bodywork just fit straight on?
Cheers, yes all fits no problem, however I have made the small bodywork brackets as all his were broken, but yeah it fits ok even with Alex Lowes BSB Akra! That's FAT!
Bike done at last, sporting it's BST wheels, GP shifter, TTX shock, HRC subframe, PCV, AT200, Alex Lowes BSB Ti Akra, custom sub loom, carbon clock stay, VERY lightweight carbon Kevlar body work and much much much more , plus some more to come soon.... On its way to sunny Spain!
If the Marines were using it as target practice you could paint it orange and double it in size and they still wouldn't hit it
