Update. Well, I used the MAG run this afternoon to field test the 'Gear Indicator' in a real world situation. I would be lying to you all if I said that there were no bugs to overcome. But I'm optimistic they can be overcome. Firstly, the 'downshift cloth' was subject to some turbulence in the slipstream at any attempt at a max speed run above 7 mph. My first thought is to make some holes in the cloth to let the slipstream air pass through. The sticky tape lamp bracket displayed fatigue failure early into the test and my apologies go out to the gentleman on the BMW GS immediately behind me, in the path of the disintegrating light unit. I'm certain two more 4" strips of tape will cure this problem immediately. The most worrying problem turned out to be the length of the twine fxing the pencil to the windscreen. Although the length proved sufficient for marking each gear change, clearly and accurately, it proved wholy insufficient to reach the test riders tongue so it could not be licked prior to marking. I feel that only the provision of the road test made this discovery possible, justifying the process in doing so.
