Since my modulator was fitted by Honda (FOC) i've not had problems, but everything i have had done has been documented in emails, on this forum etc, now hopefully my problem stays away, but if the VOSA people need any evidence i am willing to speak with them if it will help. Cheers Pete
Vehicle Defects there's a MS Word doc near the bottom, download it and email it off to the address in the form
I also spoke to Martin and as I stated earlier I got a letter of receipt acknowledging they would be investigating the matter. I sent them all the links from the forum which hopefully will be of some assistances. One thing i highlighted to VOSA, was the behaviour of the brakes only began after around 1200miles, therefore if it was as Honda seem to view it as a characteristic of the bike, why wasnt the characteristic of the brakes not there from day one and why would any brake lever just go straight to the bar. I still to this day find it astonishing Honda see nothing the wrong and we have all got it wrong, it beggers belief.
I will be filling one in. I believe I also got video evidence of the ABS comprising braking at high speed. At the time I thought the pads were contaminated with fork oil but surely this would mean compromised braking at all speeds? Look at the video here and tell me what you think, skip to 1:59 (unless you want to watch me not get my knee down ) to where I have the anchors on full from about 160mph+. Watch in comparison as the other (non abs) bikes are able to brake for the next chicane Honda Fryblade - Smokey Brakon - YouTube OP let me know if you think this irrelevant and I will delete this post. Jon
I did the same and also highlighted that it was not just us in poor old blightly who were suffering from these issues, but also others in the USA, Canada, Australia, etc, etc. I sent him loads of links to the cbr1000rr net forum so he could see for him self.
Jon, in my view I would keep it in don't think it will cause any harm and let the guys at VOSA decided the more information we can give them the better for all. Im sure they will see that there is potentially some underlying issue, as we know the behaviour from the combined ABS on the Fireblade is abnormal. In my view because its so intermittent Honda Workshops haven't seen or experienced it and therefore don't believe it exists.
Have any of you guys that contacted VOSA linked to my other thread I did, that's got a video of the lever collapsing on it.
Pete, I sent some links to them, not sure if i did that one, maybe you should post it here, will be helpful.
That's one, this is the other. http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/Peter19871/media/BrakeCollapse_zps42b24b01.mp4.html
Pete, you may want to call VOSA and speak to Martin and talk him through the video as I'm sure it will help. My issue is similar although it goes straight to the bar where yours appears to be slightly more away.
Pete, Did you have a chat with Martin.....in fact has anyone had a productive chat with him. I spoke with him today for a short while explaining why i don't believe its the characteristics of the bike.
I did, told him what happened with me and that I thought its down to air in the ABS system that causes the brakes to go spongy
