It's not all about age at all.

I'm 45, had a Bike licence for 27 years, live in a nice post code, Bike ground achored in a brick garage etc etc

Best price I could get was £900 FC due to me having Zero NCB due to not having a bike for more than two years prior so NCB evaporates after that time.

It does however make a difference if your trying to insure a brand new bike compared to say a 2-3 year old bike.

Before I got lured by Mr Honda's 0% finance I was looking at 09-10 plate bikes are the premium then was around £680

(Yes, tried everyone including specialist brokers over a 3 week period) :(

Yes. With Institute of Advanced Motoryclists award under belt you get access to IAM Surety Insurance services which specialise in IAM members. They match and often undercut the cheapest online quote you can get plus they are a reputable company! In addition you get to be a safer, better and faster biker! What's not to like?

I'd gladly pay, that to be 24 again as well.

£115 fully comp with Bennetts, 5 years NCB due to,a,couple of years being bikeless. Brick garage, ground anchor, garage alarmed and cctv'd up. Bike alarmed, 8000 miles a year limit. Suburban Leeds postcode, but the big drop comes courtesy of something I did in 1996, which means I can select the police class 1 ticket holder option. The pounds just fall away :)

    Still, 24.......................... I'd swap!

Jimmy, who underwrites your policy with MCE, if you rode whilst in Spain then no claims discount earned in an EU member state is transferable as long as you have a certificate of proof of the no claims issued by the insurer.

was just about to start a thread on this, are you lot riding with valid insurance ?? just been on compare the market, and if you put in extras (mods) its says you wont get a quote, ,ive got nearly £800 of bits on my blade, anyhow 65 years old riding big bikes for 15 years, a licence before you lot were born ha ha. and the c*nts have quoted me £550 fully comp, its starts out at £104, so what extras do you guys go for, ie, breakdown (dont need that) legal protection ? maybe £30, no claims protected? personel accident£35 helmet leathers,£45 bike is in a locked alarmed garage, and has a datatool 3 on it i think they are taking the piss.

TO MR G afraid the I.A.M is a load of bollocks, i always go back bike on our ride-outs (more exciting)i use to follow a guy on an XJR, i have followed him on 3 different bikes now and he rides his rear brake, so all i get is his fuking brake light going off for mile after mile, which at speed is bloody dangerous, you dont know if he is coming to a stop or not. all the other bikers knew this, and no balls to tell him, so i told him, the answer was "i am a IAM rider, no-one tells me how to ride,so the good thing is he wont come out if he knows i am riding in the group, so if he was on this course surely it would have been picked up on, Oh,! he has just fell off again last week (second time) guess how, panic stations slammed on the rear brake, the bike snaked, (tail wagging the dog)and threw him down the road.

£325 Fully comp protected NCB, Business use, 25K miles a year, and a total loss claim last year due to stolen bike. Might be protected but the feckers put the premium up over 100 quid for the privilege of paying out on the nicked bike.

Pete, I did think that was the case and i was quick to mention this when I got back from spain but the problem i had was that my insurer in spain would not send on my no claims to me, why, i dont know to this day.
Got fed up with trying in the end and gave up..
