Well at last a good update where I finished a race meet without breaking down or crashing Arrived Thursday at Cadwell about 4pm as I really wanted to get a spot on the Tarmac as Cadwell doesn't have garages if you don't get here early you end up on the grass which can get very muddy.I still had a problem with the bike which was a result of the crash at brands i had bent the right outer fork leg at the time I thought it was fine and had done 3 trackdays last week but on the last trackday I noticed oil leaking from the fork leg at first I just thought it needed a new fork seal the bike was booked in anyway for a rear shock ,dyno ,and steering damper so I asked them to do the fork seals but also check the fork leg was not bent as I had a hunch it was and this was why it was leaking. 2 days prior to going Cadwell I got a call to say it was bent "shit " here we go again I thought with my luck with racing.I found another set of forks on ebay so bought them and got next day delivery to Jimbo who would bring them up on Friday .My plan was to do the test day and get the rear shock and steering damper dialled in and hope the new fork seals would last then put new forks in Friday when Jimbo arrived. I got out for 2 laps on the test day and forks were pissing oil out so called it a day and stripped forks down and waited for Jimbo and Dave to arrive which they did about 1am Saturday morning I heard them arrive and lay there thinking shall I get up now and fit or wait till the morning I decided to do in the morning which ended up been 5.30am as I couldn't sleep.: I had about 3 hours sleep As I couldn't ride the bike I couldn't test the bike so the first time I road the bike was for QF which wasn't ideal and the bike felt terrible and I was 5 seconds off my best time there in April of 1.40 so inbetweeen QF and after race 1 I dropped the forks and got parkits to make several changes to the bike finally for race 2 I was starting to feel a bit better but still down on previous times anyway did race 3 and as Jimbo said we had some good battles but came in knackered and decided to miss race 4 . It was good to get this race meet done without any crashes as it was the first time I raced the bmw and the first time since my off so I was feeling pretty nervous didn't think I would be as I had done a few trackdays. As always thanks to everyone that came to watch It makes the whole weekend so much better and was a laugh a minute also big thanks to Andy for getting up early to give me a hand fitting forks. Cheers Jase
well done jase, and it'll take a bit of time to get the suspension sorted, and feeling comfortable with the bike.
Forgot to put race results Race 1 -25/32 bike felt terrible Race 2- 17/26 feeling bit better Race 3 - 14/32 bike feeling better but I was fecked with about 4 laps to go Race 4- Missed this one as was feeling the lack of sleep from the weekend. So for my first race weekend on the bike could see an improvement each race so hopefully onwards and upwards .
Done great considering you didn't get to test either. Makes a huge difference IMO. Well done buddy. So pleased you got a weekend in with no issues! Onwards and upwards indeed. Gutted you are not going to be at rockingham. But least we have silverstone to look forward too to sign of our first season
Well done Jase, i think its time you and Jimbo hit the gym Fitness sounds like its holding you both back... When is Silverstone, i will make sure I'm free to come and give support...
Your right there mate especially for Cadwell down the gooseneck your are hard on the brakes which takes its toll after 12 laps and going into the top of gooseneck its a flick right then left which is a really effort then the front straight doing about 150 then breaking in to a very fast left and all the bike wants to do is go up the grass on to the mountain .
Well done mate! Glad you got a clear weekend in the bank now even though it sounds like you still had a bit of a mare... I didn't realise until Snetterton that my "Ktec Upgrade" was faulty. The standard compression valves had been replaced with ktec ones but with no shim stacks etc and the wrong seals were used! So since round 1 at Brands I've been riding on springs and fork oil no damping whatsoever! Its amazing how different even standard suspension feels when its doing a proper job. Need to have a chat at Oulton about your ohlins kit, thinking of doing same to r6 over winter. Lookin forward to having a TD with you guys!!!
Yeah you crazy fool tyke!! Not like we have times to beat now is it Or bets with naked paddock sprints if you lose lol
lol..... man my hm dash is soooo cool, best lap, last lap, predicted current lap... TDO would have a meltdown if they spot it. ha ha
Matt was aiming for a 1.5 and was disappointed at a 1.55. Shouldn't worry as under 2 seconds is impressive
So have booked Silverstone I will be doing the test day on the 10th October and racing the 11th and 12th October which is the last race of the year unfortunately Jimbo not racing with his recent accident but I am glad to say team JDV Racing will all still be there. Will post on here what garage I am in so if anyone wants to pop down but you would probably hear us anyway or just follow the smoke as that's where the BBQ will be.
