The tyres were awesome mate. All three of us had pilot 3's fitted, think we did circa 2800 miles of hard riding including laps of the ring. Not long home, picture of my rear. Bikes on the train Massive thanks to Jimbo for sorting the routes, booking the accommodation and the train to Holland.
Not long back mate, had delays at Calais for the train and Jimbo and we couldn't resist hitting the twisty's on he way home!
Welcome home guys! Those tyres are more like it Jim eh!? It looks like you boys had a absolute blast! Looks amazing! So envious dudes
Technically we were still on tour! And motorways were banned.... Lol Thanks for the welcoming home chaps...Just got online, need to sort iPhone out then I'll get the report sorted.... So bear with me. But what a trip, awesome roads, great laugh and some 'interesting' moments I'll never forget lol Now let the 2014 planning commence
I like it Jimbo, the bikes engines are not even cold yet and the thoughts are of where we goin next year?
already told her tonight we are doing spain! tbh it's only an idea....but no point letting her know that. all about expectation management mate.
Just goes to show how bullet proof these bikes are being thrashed on a regular basis and they just keep going .Once the dust settled can't we have a detailed costing please Jimbo?
they didnt miss a beat, and considering mine clocked 42k down there its amazing!! - its had a hard life the last 6 weeks. also got to say how incredible the PR3's were... they handled everything we threw at them, we wasnt hanging around, 4 hard laps at the ring had the tyre looking like they done a TD on the edges, on the road as good as anything i've used classed as 'sports tyres' and reckon they are good to do it all again.... simply stunning!!! best all round tyre ive used bar none. i wont use another road tyre untill they update them. they are that good!! didnt try out wet credentials though as we didnt get caught in the rain in the 9 days we were on tour!
Don't even need to worry about a report on the wet performance after seeing how Andy was riding on them in the wet. They do look a weird tread pattern (almost touring tyre) but if they perform as good as you say, then sod the looks
Don't think they are like Andys more like mine I had in Scotland Michelin Pilot power 3s I think Andy has the version prior to these.
yup!!! that sold it for me mate.... although the S20's were awesome in the wet too - just didnt last. with that mileage and performance who cares about the looks... and anyway - kinda like em now anyway!
Well today it's back to work, at least I had the the extra day off. Don't envy Russ and Jimbo who both returned yesterday. As I was off yesterday I chased the replacement mudguard for Jo's monster (don't ask) and decided to give the bike a good clean and inspect what 2.8k of hard riding had done to it. I wasn't looking forward to the "to do list" If the state of the 929 after the Scotland tour was anything to go by. Before After Those eagled eyed amongst you may notice the additional Oxford protection film in various places. I have the venture shield fitted but the kit doesn't cover all areas that pick up road rash and stone chips and its thin as fcuk. The marks on the fairings are actually holes in the venture shield that dirts got behind, new kit required this year me thinks. I also covered the tail and mirrors in black tape. The tape on the mirrors melted in the heat and looked gash whilst on tour, but served its purpose. Overall the bike seems to have not picked up any real additional damage. Main area is the left side engine casing (I plan to get GB covers at some point) and the disappearing act of the rear R&G crash bobbins- Jimbo and Russ think they come off whist riding. I'm not convinced as they have been on there for a couple of years with no issues. I'd like to take the credit for adding protection to limit the damage but would suggest the quality of roads, especially in Germany have played a huge part.
