Truly, truly biblically epic write up. Get it made up into a book, Jimbo!! I'm stuck for words! Except.... About bleeding time!
Dont mind the odd guiness.... but in plus 30 degrees... no bloody way! And that German rocket fuel is far from piss i can assure you
Fantastic - really enjoyed reading that Reminded me of my trip a year ago to that area - where I really wanted to do the Col D'Iseran from Bourg but I read the sign in Borg saying 'Ferme' so never went up to Val. Think I did the same route as you from Castellane to Barcelonette past the ski resort - there are some pics somewhere of that. Also amazed by what good weather you had just 2 / 3 weeks after me but that's how it goes I guess. Glad the train worked out - its a real time saver and like you say allowed you to do so much more than if you had to ride back from down south, but it was also good recovery after a hectic week. At least on your run to Castellane you did not have the road shut for 3 hours due to a landslide THis was my write up of similar route - not how much more you got in by taking train home. http://1000rr.co.uk/touring/9221.htm
Fantastic write up Jimbo. Loved readings that. I might even read it again tomorrow with a beer. I cant wait to get my arse over there now.
Cheers fellas... Enjoyed doing it, really was a fantastic trip... Get yourself over there col, you'll love it if you don't melt lol Al - yeah I saw that, but will have a re read we had a snow slide in June at 30degrees lol prob all the snow you had melting.....
