I mean open your hips to the inside of the corner - Flash your man parts to the apex... It makes you face the inside of the corner, puts your outside leg against the tank and gets your inside leg perpendicular to the bike...

If you show your arse to the inside of the corner, your body will be facing the outside of the corner... That is what is known as being crossed up, where your ass is off the seat, but your head is still behind the screen. This is wrong. Also caused by rotating around the tank... Wrong...

Sounds right, once it's done once you won't realise what the fuss is about, weird really...

Failing all of the above, just go faster and give it large! Death or glory I say ha ha

Seriously, don't let it get ya otherwise you'll try to hard and it'll ruin your ride... My pal Bruce was obsessed with it and I'd watch him try on every corner which isn't possible, IMO there are few you can do it on the open roads in this country...

Find a well known roundabout frequented by right knee sliding hero's, go early or late so no one is about and give it a whirl... As said, take a pal with ya so he can tell you how close you are.

I'm the opposite, 5' 8", 33" leg. Funny thing is I have to ride all Triumphs on tip toe.

Been trying for years do it twice but this meant going around a roundabout about 8 times and must have got to 80mph which was completley over the top ! Every time i change bikes i think this is my year. I do hang off/ Head to mirror bla bla i think its a question of getting enough speed up on a good corner or roundabout only problem is time and time again to much traffic or you cant see through the roundabout sometimes i go that low without touching down it feels like the bike is going to fall over. This year just maybe.;)

Do a trackday you should get it. if not look at the photograps of you and look at your body positionm as many have said, it's all about your entire body, not just how far you have your arse of the seat. Try to put your head inline with your mirror and point your knee away from you. I thought I was hanging off loads untill I saw photos from my first trackday...you really have to exagerate it. Good luck!

I will now admit to how I got my knee down for the first time, after trying and trying I got an old Evian bottle, cut the end off to extend the slider out 2 inches ish black masking taped it on, went early to my fav roundabout had a few warm up runs then touched down virtually straight away, then a few more laps the bottle was gone ! And the slider had its first battle scar :) after that it was easy to remember body position etc

I can get the right down easy left very rarely

Speaking of right vs left, do any of you guys have trouble taking left handed corners? I find it really easy to get in the correct position for right handed corners but often struggle with left handers. Any tips on how to improve on the left-handers as well?

For me it's all about being able to attack a corner so my advice would be:

Use more of the road when clear, move to the right lane, this will improve your visibilty, give you more time to set yourself up and you will sail through safer and faster... And if the corner is right then shouldn't be any diff from a right hand lane...

its body position then/ foot postition if you dont have them you wont go down even off edge of tyre once you get the position right.. just keep dialing in a little more speed.. as you open up throttle/ speed the bike wants to run wide/stand up hence need to turn tighter=knee down.. oh and i race so i know my stuff!! my advice is a trackday but session two maybe three corners dont try to do it everywhere!! once you do you'll wonder what all the fuss was about trust me!!!![IMG] thats the first left hander off start finish at cadwell 140 mph plus left knee flat!! DA DAHHHHHH:D

If I can do it like this how difficult can it be?

Next time you're struggling to get your knee down take a look of this pic. It's a shot of me in the Pyrennes fully loaded with camping gear. Okay so it doesn't score 10 for style but it did touch down!
