Update ... Mine turned out to be the CCT. Going in next week to be fixed!! Happy days are here again .... woop woop.
Update - Spoke to garage today who started on it yesterday. Clutch has been stripped out and appears OK. Gear box taken out and bearings checked. They seem fine but they are going to replace them anyway as it's an easy job. Don't know what they'll try next if that doesn't work:cray:
Hi guys, i have a similar noise coming form my 05 blade (currently around the 9k miles mark). Mine is a definate rattle when its cold, not very loud you need to listen for it. It sounds like its coming from the clutch area and seems more pronounced on over run when revving slightly from cold. It dissapears ewhen the engine warms up and as its starting to dissapear is definately reduced when you pull the clutch in. Before i pop her back into the garage where i bought it from what do you reckon, cct or just standard clutch rumble? Cheers Nick
Gear box bearings replaced and didn't make a difference. Garage have contacted Honda who have given them a list of possible causes to work through, starting with piston slap (which I find hard to believe on a 11,000 mile engine). So it's engine out and they reckon at least 1 week more before I get it back if they sort it, but more like two weeks:suicide:
Bike still in garage.:frusty:Honda Technical have sent a new set of pistons and rings up and they're being fitted now and eveything else checked and getting put back together. Best case scenario, bike back next weekend as during the week I'm working down south for the next month. Bugger, winters almost here
Its a bummer but at least you will end up with a well fettled engine. Thats got to be a good thing? I take it all the work is under warranty of some sort?
What a PITA milky mate ,, I feel your pain but as the boys have said . Your getting a well fettled engine at the end of this .. You still got the F to rag the tits of ? lol
Your right Dan, but winters approaching fast and there's only so much fun you can have on a 600!!! Only up here for one week in the next two months because of work down south so might just lay it up for the winter when I get it back and do some fettling on her for next year I'll give you chaps a final update next week, hopefully !!!!!
Hopefully can put this one to rest (eventually)!! Pick up the bike tomorrow and it's fixed!!!! after SEVEN weeks. Engine has been rebuilt and new pistons/rings put in which seems to have cured knocking. Honda technical have told the garage that it may have been a bad batch of pistons that were produced and one found its way into my bike (don't know where the rest are if there are anymore!). Anyway if it's fair weather hope to get a few hundred miles done up to Glencoe/Oban way and get some miles on her as I've only had two weeks riding since I bought it two and a half months ago. I'll update you if it's fixed as they sayleasantry:
Cheers guys, off to bed for a good nights sleep. Is it sad to get so excited about a motorbike??:Banane17:
Hows she running Bud ?? Should be nice and tight with new pistons .. Only number is your gonna have to run the bike in again lol
She's running sweet as a nut:Banane42: Weather put paid to getting some miles on the clock but it felt great on the way back from the garage. Hopefully can get a few hundred miles in over the next week or so to run her in before winter storage. Seems like it was piston slap after all even with only 11000 miles or so on the clock according to the mechanic. Still, should get a few years out of her now. Roll on next spring :dance3:
