Ken, you crack me up mate. PMSL. Okay, update: Le Touquet Spring 2012 Just testing the water here, this is something I've organised a couple of times in the past as a member of Gixerjunkies. The aim is to ride in one group, members only (pillions fine if other halves, friends want to come along). Maximum 50 'blades. For those people who have ridden abroad I don't need to tell you it adds a new dimension to biking, but there are loads of people who for one reason or another have never ventured beyond our shores. So, how about a taster for those members to join a ride to Le Touquet with our more seasoned travellers? Here's the plan. Day trip to Le Touquet, going over on the train to Calais and then taking some excellent roads via Boulogne to LT. Lunch in LT, look around the town (brilliant place), fantastic beach also, and then head back along the coast to Calais. When I did this for the GJs, I organised lunch for us all in a great restaurant with covered terrace, they did us proud. So, if that is something that people fancy, I can sort it. Worth pointing out that we would use the 'drop off' system. This caters for riders of all abilities, so that slower riders can be confident that they won't be left behind at any time, but at the same time faster riders can have fun too. It is definately not about faster riders not being able to overtake, far from it, as long as it's done with due consideration for less experienced riders, and everyone stays between the leader and the back marker. Riding through towns would require everyone to stay in position though for obvious reasons. I would be the leader on the way out, and I'd be looking for a volunteer to be back marker. We could then swap round for the return trip. I'll be using Satnav, and would need the back marker to have one too if possible. Leader and back marker will have to wear high-viz jackets so they can be recognised. (Just to warn anyone thinking of volunteering lol). As already mentioned, I organised a couple of these with Gixerjunkies and we all had a great time. The most bikes we had on one trip was 42, and using the 'drop off' system 42 bikes roared into LT together, think the locals wondered what hit them, but the French of course love their bikes. Anyway, just a thought. If you think you might be interested, post up, and if there's sufficient interest I'll get my organisational hat on. I'd like it to be an opportunity for anyone who perhaps hasn't ridden abroad to join us knowing they'll have nothing to worry about and can just enjoy it.[/I] So guys, if you fancy it please cut and paste all of this and add your name onto the list. Not being funny JD, but I would prefer to do this as a Blade trip rather than tag along with a load of other bikes? Whadya reckon??? Your choice, your trip.
Mate, don't have a problem with that, if that's okay with everyone. If I'm totally honest I would prefer it to be Blades only. JD
would love to come but bit far for us northern types having said that might come down n stay in travellodge.
Would be nice to see you down here mate. If you come down a day earlier or go back a day later, I can organise a rideout for ya if you stay near Romney Marsh or near the M20???
I am up for this as well, let me know dates ASAP so I can work it around work ETC Cheers - Kev [sync24]

I very much like the idea, however, I think by the time I ridden the 200 odd miles to Calais I would be knackered, what do the guys that live a long way from Calais do, stay in a B&B the night before??
When I've done this previously with GJs, quite a few guys lived a fair distance away, and they just booked B&B close to Folkestone. JD
Best B&B in Folkestone (and a biker) is my mate Alan Horton his wife Sue at the Rob Roy .. say Claire sent you
