Hahah don't try it bud def not. What I am referring to is are you holding yourself with your arms or legs? Get some one to lean the bike for you and hold that position with your hands in the air. Also another way to straighten your body out is to look into the corner with your outside shoulder. So right corner make sure your left shoulder is looking I in. It will become second nature later on... Also don't force it obviously might not be for you.
Pot - Kettle ! This is an interesting thread but I can’t help thinking, and it’s only my personnel opinion so it could be an age thing but: Who Cares. when I was a young gun I would be at the front of the queue vying to be top dog in the dick measuring comparisons. There are some thin strips on my tyres but does it matter if I am happy to ride at a rate that I am comfortable with, I don’t feel the need to prove anything to anyone. I am not the fastest rider but then I don’t have the smallest dick either. What really matters I am happy with both.
I never pay much attention to them but they are good For the banter in the bar. We were evil and used a tyre pen to mark up one Fellas kfc strips before a ride out lol.
It's all about your body posistion Was playing about with a mate a couple of summers ago, you can see in this pic I'm nowhere near the edge of the tyre, just hanging off like an ape! You'll find it hard work to get right to the edge of the tyre in this weather, as you need to carry a fair amount of speed
Speed and how much you hang off This is really hanging off at about 40 And this sitting more upright at aound 70
Just a little note to people who think you will fall of edge of tyre is incorrect, the tyre deforms under pressure and you keep a contact patch. so unless you are Casey stoner you should ride off the edge of the tyre.
Mind you the blade has pushed the front a few times on me on tight slow corners, Really had to dig the knee In and turn into it.could have been the corsa tyres But had no confidence in it.maybe the new pilots will solve this.
Wow you guys are tall! I'm leaning more than that and have never dragged knee at that angle. The picture of you riding the duc has s good amount of lean though!
The camera doesnt really pick it up but im just over cheek and a half Off the seat on the blade pic, look at the angle of my foot to leg compared To the duke pic.the duke would out corner my blade any Day of the week, cant get round turnagrough(ugp circuit) on the Blade anywhere near how fast the duke could do it.
I'm loving those pictures. It shows how important body positioning is for good KD action. That was really why I started this thread all those posts ago - I can't see how far I lean so I don't know if I'm miles away from the tarmac or just a few inches. Knowing how far over I actually am would help me gauge how much more I need to lean off the bike.
Usually its fighting that voice I your head that says your over far enough. Once you get the first couple done you find it really easy from that point on. Bit more speed and a bit more counterstear and your knee will kiss the tarmac.
You will learn your limits at the track... but rest assured the actual limits are much further than you expect You'll get rid of 'chicken strips' at the rear after several sessions... it needs some more confidence to to the same with the front, but that's the beauty of the Fireblade: you can really push this bike hard. If you don't plan the trackday this year, simply ask your friend to fit the camera on his bike and film your riding.
