Stripped down motorcycle in the living room, another in the wee back room, another in the hall cupboard, another under the tarp in the garden....
Don't have the luxury of a garage - what I do have is a flatmate who's just as bike daft as I am. This place was always destined to get out of hand.

Most of the work's done on the RS. Lick of paint on the exhaust and the bodywork can go back on. Then it stops being a stripped down motorcycle and goes back to being a fine piece of Italian sculpture. :D

Think a new rear disc is in order and replace the pads whilst i’m at it. Wavy or standard disc? Fronts are basically new EBC with gold rotors.

Looking good. You should ask chin for advice on keeping your chain clean I've heard he is really good at it :D

Kitchen, utility and toilet have now had their floor tiles fully removed and a tiler booked with new tiles ordered.
However SWMBO is insisting on everything being painted again even though it was done about 18 months ago.
    IMPORTANT
Can anyone recommend a white gloss paint for skirting boards that can stay white longer than 5 mins? I've tried a few now and they were all crap. They just dont stay white like the older oil based paints did.
Please any pro's here who are in the know cos I'm sick of having to paint the white work every year or two :D

Don’t use oil based? Water base keeps its colour longer. Dulux Trade Diamond Satinwood or Diamond Eggshell if you want a flatter finish. Diamond finish is harder wearing. Dulux Quick Dry Gloss is water based but with a tiny bit of oil in it to keep it workable longer. Oil based Satinwood is self undercoating. Not cheap stuff but it works:)

Daz the last dulux one I used was 'dulux once gloss' for wood and metals. It was ok but still didnt last that long before starting to yellow.
Is the satin wood and eggshell that you mention not going to give me a different finish to gloss?
It sounds like this is your bag so ignore my ignorance and make allowances for a paint numpty.

Had the bike one week today, last owner I think spent most of the time looking at it, took out front brakes washed calipers, old brake pads rusty and worn down, replaced with EBC;s, striped down rear caliper, washed and replaced with new brake pads, chain rusted on inside replaced with new chain, gold DID chain, he told me he put new tyres on the bike, what he didn't tell me was he tightened the axle nut on the rear and everything else was loose,I have only rode the bike 50 miles in the rain and that was when I brought it home, so tomorrow weather permitting I will take it out for a proper test ride up to 70 miles an hour of course.

I had mastered gloss( no brush lines or runs)
But I too was fed up of yellowing,
And I had some of the bad batch that changed colour after about six months
I have now started to use leyland fast drying water based gloss.
It is rubbish for brush marks and I have rolled my doors but I can’t be bothered to keep painting again and again so this has stopped that because it stays white for ages and it is a nice white

Your excused:D The dulux once is a general public retail paint or gnats piss as I like to call it:eek: Trade paint is the way to go. It costs more because it works, painters want to be done in a day, in and out. If you want to do 2 or more coats buy retail lmao. I’ll put a photo up of trade vs retail paint. You tell me which is which?:p They are the exact same colour and both tester pots! Satin is less of a sheen than gloss and eggshell is almost flat.

yep:) better coverage, better opacity, more pigment and less effort:cool: It’s the recipe with more titanium oxide not chalk! White black and magnolia are the off the shelf cheapest option. Pigments start bumping the price up as it’s “bespoke”:D The darker the colour the more expensive as more pigments needed.

Brake pad recall sorted yesterday on the Brembos. Also demolished the old shed and cleared for the new shed/office thingy to turn up.

Went for a cycle. First time ever I managed a 50 mile ride, almost did one about 15 years ago but only did 49.4 miles as was too knackered to go round the block :( Managed to average just under 15mph, and did 2 hills with 10% gradient so am quite impressed with my lardy old arse :)

Just hit my 100th day of hitting my step target. Completely unimportant and not bike related but it has helped stop the lockdown calories from making my kit too small!

Unlike what the winter calories which are a lot more dangerous did to my biking jeans :eek:

Well the Lightech chain tensioners I ordered back when lockdown was beginning to bite finally made their way out of Italy.
I really don't believe they make much difference, although they are easier to adjust, but ooooh bling....

Wife badgered me into decorating the room where the Grandaughters stay, spent a whole freaking day removing vinyl wallpaper and still not done, feck knows what I stuck it up with, but it’s stuck like the proverbial to a blanket.

Just about to settle down with a couple of beers to sympathise with myself.
