I've started casually looking at classic cars and bikes trying to work out if I could get 1 as a project but then I remember I'm shit at doing stuff like that but I can dream. Christ I cant even paint the interior of my garage like some do

Isn't it just! I had the exact same stool....but the castor's constantly fell off it and the metal bits holding them on bent....not sure if it was shite engineering or my fat arse lol

Shame that as I would’ve offered you some garage floor paint I’ve got 3 litres of Ash Grey floorshield going spare. Enough to do a standard 18’x9’ floor twice with a bit left for touch ups. Easy to apply via brush or roller. Unless you want to be brave?? It’s free to anyone who’s local
I’m in Newcastle Upon Tyne It’s quality floor paint. Retails around £70 for 5L I prefer the red so it’s surplus to requirements and I don’t mind helping a forum member pass some time away lol
I've heard it's a pig of a job. Not fussed about the fairing round the headlight, it's the side panels I'd be keen to take off. Have thought about ordering a new set of fairing bolts from ProBolt before I start, that way I'm replacing them all and if I break any in the process it doesn't matter.

You won't break the bolts Marc, it's the plastic tabs that are the real danger. Snap a couple of them off in the wrong place and it will never sit quite as flush as it should ever again. There are a few videos online to help you but nothing that will make it fool proof. Here is the way I remove the fairings..... The lower belly pan needs to come off first, this is held in by 2 bolts on each side (4 total). Remove these bolts but keep it supported with your hand underneath when removing the last bolt. Now with all the bolts out its held in at the front directly underneath the radiator by plastic tabs. You need to move it sort of rearwards to disengage the tabs. Just go easy, it won't need any force to lift away just a bit of jiggery pokery. The upper fairing is bit trickier, first remove the plastic tray that sits underneath the headlights, it's called the air intake cover in the manual. Its held in by 3 plastic push pins (manual calls them trim clips). You can unscrew the centre of the pins with a PH2 screwdriver bit, with the centres unscrewed the whole body of the push pin will pull out. Next look at the top corner of the radiator there is another push pin on the inside of the fairing. It's about 1.5inch from the top corner of the radiator. There is one for each fairing. Remove this push pin in the same way you removed the other 3 for the intake cover. Now look at the intake cover directly below each set of switchgear on the handlebars. There should be one black fastener looking up at you at the front, remove this. Now put your hands on the inside of the intake cover inbetween the intake cover and the fork leg you should find 2 smaller screws one at the front and one at the back. Remove these 2 screws again with a PH2 screwdriver bit. Now the intake cover should slide rewards and be able to slide out over the fairing. The fairing (manual calls it middle cowl) is just being held on by the one screw at the rear of the fairing that is directly above the crank case and a myriad of clips at the front of the fairing which interacts with the upper (nose) cowl. Remove the screw at the rear and now the fairing is just being held in by interlocking clips. Don't worry though, it's still quite sturdy without any bolts holding it in, it shouldn't just fall out. This is the bit that can be a pain, you need to slide the fairing forward to unclip it from the upper cowl. Just go steady and you'll get it. Once it's out, study the clips to see exactly what needs to happen when you're re-fitting it.

Seems like some people just love peeing me off. Ffs. Dont get me wrong its stunning mate it's just.... Well...I spent days (about 3) pulling 20 years worth of crap out of mine late last year. Spent a good few hundred quid on shelving, bench etc and WAS really pleased with myself. Then the 'garage' snobs turn up and remind me mine looks crap in comparison so that lovely internal smugness that I had is gone At least my new lights turned up and they are great, my garage is much brighter and a good investment.
