Some ok ones on gumtree Yamaha R6 Track Bike Race in North Yorkshire | Motorbikes & Scooters for Sale | Gumtree.com http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/mint-2002-yamaha-r6-track-race-bike-with-v5/1016279080
I would rather spent a bit more on a newer bike mate. As said before keep looking on tdr and motoforum pal.
Yep, I would agree with Lexwon, go a little newer. Stick with the idea of buying a ready converted track bike. Converting across does cost a lot.
Was thinkin of gettin something like this: Kawasaki ZX-6R 636cc (2005) Motorcycles for sale | 7589759 | MCN Then selling all the OEM fairings, lights, indicators etc. Make £6/700 on them or so and spend on track fairing, suspension setup etc.
Track fairings will cost you 350, 100 for brackets and heat shield, prob need a clock mount, seat foam 30 quid, screen 30, rattle can paint job 100 for materials.... Honestly dude, it adds up. And you'd be lucky to get a buyer for 2nd hand bits, and 600 quid I think you'd struggle.... eBay is a big market!! As said, get something track ready, save you £££ and also a lot of time. Who says that 22k road bike hasn't been ridden hard!?
Yeah I suppose but someone said earlier on this thread that they've had nothing but problems buying track bikes??
You can buy a shitter ready for the track or a road bike mate... Got to treat every bike as an individual case. 9/10 you can tell if its a straight bike from looking at the history and using some common sense. If in doubt ask, but I wouldn't let 1 comment off a stranger on here let you sway you one way or another... Keep an open mind, do your research, work out what's what and if its too good to be true, it is
Too good to be true?? Seems you have a keener eye for this sort of thing than me jimbo I've always bought from dealerships.. YAMAHA R6 TRACK BIKE | eBay A Stunning Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 **TRACK BIKE** Rizla Blue | eBay
i dont wany to start an argument for the no frame number purchase........personally i would say peace of mind and even if track ready (prob got some nice trick bling fitted) go for the V5 route.......with proven history....thats what i did with my second RR8 purchase......then went mad with second hand buys for fairings, rear sets, power commander, quick shifter, akro can,HM dash and still to be fitted brembos & Gb racing covers...... now i cant ride it in case i fall off......best garden ornament i ve ever bought !!
or i suppose i could just buy a roadbike with v5 and take all mirrors and shit off. my blade is standard apart from PCV and exhaust and that rode like a dream on tuesday
I don't know a great deal mate, but take for instance that r6, bit of a mix match of bits from other bikes, and just cos its a cat b or d or whatever, they don't write off its history?? Might be wrong? Like rob says, I'd always go down the v5 route. Very few bikes have a good excuse for having no history. Hence is steer clear
From what i believe if you had a police check you will have to prove ownership of that bike...... now i dont know what type of certificate or receipt is given with a legit "Ready made Race Bike" from new but if you bought it you must be able to prove with correct history the story of that bike........if its occassional trackdays play safe is all i say.... As i said no rants for or against the choice is yours but be careful !!
The only advice I'd offer is if you can buy from someone you know. Preferably with the V5, it don't make it right, no more than it makes it wrong, but for peace of mind. eBay was a joke when I started looking for a track bike, you had bikes listed with and without the V5, not a problem. The problem was trying to buy the damn things. Seems as though they used eBay just to get the coverage, but rather than putting a reserve on it "that costs money" the seller started the bid at 1p or something similar, always at the bottom this bike is advertised else where and can be removed at any time. Yeah and if it didn't make what they wanted they removed it just before the end. You'd get a nice message from eBay saying the seller has removed this because it has been sold else where, bull shit, the bike in one instance was relisted 10 minutes later with a buy it now price. Sorry for going on. Anyway in my opinion I got lucky and bought my track bike with quite a bit of history, and the knowledge the guy who put me in touch with it, wasn't the type to see anyone had over. Oh and the V5 arrived three days ago. There are a lot of frogs out there to be kissed, just hope your ruled by your head, and not your heart, or it could all end in tears.
Yeah thats good advice gary, im just itching to get some more days in this year tho!!! Life has been boring as hell since tuesday and aint getting any better even with spirited road riding!!
Spirited riding on her majesty's roads is all well and good in the short term young Tyke, however getting caught and being sent to one of the luxury hotels we tax paying types fund dotted around the country for a few months will not only run your earning potential, in being your cell mates bitch for six months it will also ruin your arsehole, to which you will not be able to sit on a bike of amy description anytime soon. Slowly slowly catch your monkey
HAHA! You just made me LOL and spit my beer all over the computer! And I agree, the road is nowhere near as fun as the track! If my blade wasn't on tick I'd probably sell it tomorrow for a lesser road bike and buy a track bike. Safe to say first track day has completely changed my outlook on motorcycling.
I have all the excitement you have recently experienced yet to come, my track bike has been sat in the garage now for one month, due to work commitments it's going to sit there another two, my first trackday is booked at Oulton park on the 31st of July. Thankfully Scotland is next week, that should give me a fix in the short term. Sorry about the computer btw
It's my own doing im affraid, I've pretty much booked up my holidays for the next twelve months. Ambitious I know, 5 days Scotland 17 days Spain 14 days for MrsB's sun worshiping on an a Goan beach, only leaves me 5 days for emergency use, as I see it throwing my leg over said bike is an emergency. MrsB on the other hand thinks not
