I've always used Ventura and cant fail them at all. I've done 3 euro trips on them now and i always forget i've got my luggage on the back its that good. It doesn't effect the handling one little bit, I've got 100% trust in the system after using them this year in Europe doing 3000miles all 11 of us all sport bikes had the system with us at times hitting speeds of 170mph+ on the autobanns and letting rip on the twistys. The bag takes two seconds to secure and remove. With the bag having a pocket on it that slides down the full length of the rear rack and then just securing two clips at bottom of bag. Removing the frame that the bag slides on takes seconds aswel as it has two special bolts that lock the frame to the L brackets on the bike. (Comes with a special tool to stop thieving buggers). I can't recommend the system enough. If you look on Ebay aswel might find them cheaper i have for my last 3 bikes. It might be a bit pricey but once you get it you wont regret it and then you can laugh at your mates messing around with bunjys and clips and taping there fairings to stop them scratching everything. I found its the bag's are brillaint aswel as i didnt bother with the waterproof cover (£25 OUCH) and i've been caught in some hellish rainstorms and opened my bag expecting everything to be soaking and found them dry with no signs of damn. Also when you remove the Bag support frame you can hardly notice the L brackets as they hug the bike really nice! And if you have a pillion you just turn the Support round no problems. You can even zip 2 51L bags together and fit it the system no problems! I really gotta stop going on sounds like i work for them or something lol Trying to add some photo's for ya all of the system.

Another enthusiastic recommendation for Ventura, sold my last lot with my Gixer to a mate. Got to get some for my 2011 'blade now, so if anyone has any to sell or can point me in the direction of someone with some to sell, I'd be very grateful, ta.

I couldn't find a kit that i liked so i covered the rear panel in protective tape and loaded my gear on in sports bags with some bag sacks to keep the water out. didn't look the best but done the job with a load of bungys. will have to put a bit more tought in to it this year..

And i am also very fussy about not getting scratches or wear on the paint work so i wont buy one till im happy with how it works.

As you say, only bag over seat is correct I believe, that's how I've always had mine. The rack is to be used to support the Ventura bag if pillion on board. The rack is handy for strapping another small bag on if needed.

I dont think it really matters what way the rack is pointing.
Obvisouly if a pillion is onboard its pointed away from the bike, when ever I have taken a heavyish bag ill turn the rack inwards, then the bag has something to rest on rather than possibly resting on the bike and scratching etc.

When I go to france ill turn in outward then I can bungee tent / sleeping bag to the rack.

I have only used it before on a Fazer cant wait to try it on the blade later :)

Can have rack facing either way. Bag sits on rack, especially if it is well loaded.

Just getting rid of my Ventura stuff, rack for the 2012 Blade involves filing the holes bigger on the underneath tray, sad that its going as it was brilliant. Dont like stugg strapped / bungeed on, seen someone crash so wont use them, I know a lot of people do get on with soft panniers but not for me, but I am looking at getting aset of these for the annual Gernamy tour

    Anyone seen or used them?

Not a fan of panniers on a sports bike, i have the kriega us-30 plenty big enough for a 7 day trip with waterproofs bungie to the top.
Would like the ventura stuff but to many £££ for me. Also not a fan of tank bags so the kriega tail bags work great for me.

I know, the only attractive part is that they can't move as opposed to bungee'd throwovers.
How solid is the US 30 and does it rest on the paintwork?
I would have stucl with th Ventura apart from the 2012 L Brackets require mods to the undertray bodywork

i havent used it on my blade but on my gsxr750 last year the us-30 didnt touch the paint at all, i take the seat cowl off and use the pillion seat, looking at the rear of the blade it might touch the bit above the rear light? if so i will just put a bit of gaffer tape on there. Its very solid as the us-30 has new fitting that go on the subframe under the rear seat, very easy to put on and off the bike.
