What pressures do you run on hypersport tyres or are you running slicks? The tyre guy put a lot more in the front than the last time on friday im guessing as a result of track conditions. Friday the track had been wet, time before that it was baked in the sun all day.
I am not allowed to run slicks in Formula 600, so run either Racetecs or Supercorsas. I run at 32 front and 26 rear with warmers on. When are you next out on track and where?
Nice one, enjoy it. Looks like the weather will be good to. I need to get there again soon to get some more tracktime in, as I need to knock more time off. If it is a No Limits trackday, try to speak to InFront Motorcycles, who normally do the tyres (normally they have a yellow Pirelli truck). Absolutely top guys and know their stuff about tyres and bike setup. They are not expensive either and have helped me massively.
Will have a look when im there mate. It was too wet to enjoy it last time although i did realise its a fantastic track
No you have done the right thing. Inters is ideal as there is generally a good spread of riders, whereas novice you can sometimes get a bit held up.
Agree with this they did me the Dunlop d212 pro tyres at oulton and were cheaper than the other companies I rang plus they fitted for that price as well .
never trust the pressure that they tyre guys puts in as "thats what it should be",they pump the tyre up to pop the bead back into place,it's upto you to check your pressures and change accordingly.next time, make sure you ask what pressures they set them at,and if this is what they should be run at.
Me being someone new to trackdays and being told by the organisers and many on here that the tyre guys are professional and know their stuff i thought youd be able to rely on their advice. Before every trackday i take the bike to the guy and ask him to set my pressures. If i should be doing this myself where should i start? Do the manufacturers have a guide of any sort?
no your misunderstanding me,i mean when you've had tyres fitted, dont assume he has set your pressures to the correct psi,ask him what he's set them too to make sure he's done them to what they should be,not just popped the bead on and left them. the tyre chaps do know what they are doing, and will advise you on pressures.
Sorry mate lol. Yeah i have someone who fits tyres for me foc so i was just meaning when at track before the first session. Ive seen guys adjusting pressures all day. Does it take time to develop this type of feel for your tyres? Im learning where there is grip but cant honestly say ive ever thought oooo coukd do with half a psi more in the front etc.
theres not too mant that understand feel to that point, the main indication to poor pressure setting is tyre wear, but this can also point to poor suspension set up,so as long as you're ball park with your pressures then you'll be fine, and usually the best place to find that out is the tyre guy
I run d212gp never gonna be as quick as the iom lot on the same tyres so never bothered with moving to slicks lol but I have tyres fitted at track but always do my own pressures cold 31-21 last set I had to let 4 psi put front 12 out rear after being fitted at track
Yeah NTEC uses lower pressure due to the harder sidewall giving a bigger contact patch really good tyres I won a day with Dunlop when the d211gp was released good stuff http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.eu/dunlop_euen/mc/tyres/on_road/Sportmax_D212_GP_Pro.jsp Some people drop to 17psi on the rear
