Stay away from MCE if they show up as a cheap quote. Existing policy holders face reduced payouts if they have to claim
My son and I have just received this email but I thought our policy’s had already been passed on to MCE uk So not sure now
This is a bit of a ball ache, with more than half of the policy still to go, does anybody know what the refund situation is?
The note said refund possible but I'm not holding out any hope. I only took my policy out in October but it was a 120 quid so others will be worse off. Think I'll start my new policy today, don't want to risk claiming for theft with it all in this state.
Apparently the FSCS scheme will refund unused portion, but seeing as how they openly state claims take longer and they only pay out 90% of a claim value I wouldn't expect a quick or full pay out. I'm trying to figure out how I paid for my policy, hopefully it was a Credit Card so I can put a Section 75 claim in.
Went online for an insurance quote and guess who was the cheapest, which was more expensive than six months ago.
They also came out cheapest for me, not touching them though. Confirmed I paid on a Credit Card so will see about raising a Section 75 complaint to get my money back.
If it was April fools day I would understand, but this beggars belief. Anyway Bemoto is only £6 more so MCE can f#€k right off.
I saw that email this morning, still haven't finished laughing. Not even a hint of apology or discount.
I was just going to post the same email Wa##ers I hope everyone feels the same as me Ripped off If MCE are carrying on why can’t they take it I bet the fat cats haven’t lost any money Not going with them ever again
A paragraph from Money Saving Expert (Martin Lewis) “Cover for motorbike or scooter insurance will end at midnight on 31 January 2022. Your policy with MCE Insurance will remain valid until these dates, and you'll get a pro-rata refund for 90% of any unused months left on your policy from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). This refund will be sent to you by cheque.“ I wonder what will happen with the no claims discount record. It seems 105,000 other people will have the same question.
We will lose it just like the 10% We are only hard working British people trying to do the right thing ( insure our selves) just to be robbed
That's the story of insurance in general. The original form was a mutual fund which really did look out for the unfortunate, but as that's borderline communist-talk it was all but wiped out and transformed into good-old capitalism. I'll get off my soapbox now. But just to say, I only insure for things where it's a) a legal requirement or b) absolutely stupid not to. Most things fortunately don't fit into either category.
Has anyone noticed how many life/accident insurances specifically exclude motorcycle use in the conditions?
