Bike battery all charged up and reporting as healthy by the optimate so switched it off got bike out turned ignition on and pressed alarm fob within 5 seconds and nothing I think it's safe to say the Meta has died. Last chance tomorrow with the override plug otherwise it's off to have the whole lot cut out of the loom.
Bloody hell, Spoons. Sounds as if the previous owner might have been holding out on you On further checking my paperwork, mine's not the same; it's a System 3 and that has the facility to install new battery. Shame you have to disable it all, but I'd possibly be inclined to do the same. On the other side, a replacement unit might cost the same as taking it out of the loom. Something to think about?
Well nothing I can do if he was but the bike started fine in front of me and alarm/immobiliser switched on and off fine in front of me and did when I got home for a couple of days. It’s only leaving it 4 days it’s died. I was expecting a duff bike battery as the cause but the optimate has charged it and reporting it as healthy. I certainly won’t put a new unit on it if the bypass plug doesn’t work it’s going to the alarm company up the road even if I have to push it there 1.5 miles to get it cut out the bike and gone for good. Did I say I hate alarm/immobilisers?!
The Meta fuse seems to be in a small housing along the loom from the Meta unit. Best to work back along the wires or re-check the video link I posted. Fairly sure I saw it mentioned there.
I had a look but can't see it in the wiring under the rear seat cowl so must be under the fairing between there and the battery I'll wait for the plug to turn up as i'm not taking the plastics off as no idea how they come off or go back on
Yep plug worked you need to hacksaw the security screws off the alarm unit so you can unplug it from the loom. It’s supposed to be so you can never unplug the unit but as per the video they are easily accessible on the side and can saw them off and then get to the plug
